I agree with Manny. As a race car driver who has driven Daytona a dozen weekends, I just don't see that track as an "Amateur DE" type of place. WAY too hairy and WAY too fast. Especially down into turn one. I have been in some scary situations with Pro driver's and I don't think I would put myself on there with Amateurs.

has anyone driven on both tracks to compare daytona to pocono? ive driven pocono with my 7gt3 and the speed can get scary. got to 165 without even trying. i bet a more skilled driver could get 180. can someone post a track map of daytona?

That is the track map! It is all there except for there is a bus stop that we use on the back straight away right at the entrance of T3. It is to slow cars down for T3 and T4 as well as the front straight/bank. The track is very very fast around the oval, but pretty civil on the infield. The only turn which would be trick for an amatuer driver I think is turn 1 and 2 on the infield, because you are coming into the turn SO hot! My godfather (Hurley Haywood) drove the GT2 for press rides this weekend at Rennsport 3 and said he was doing around 191 before braking into turn 1. I imagine that this could be a potential problem for new drivers!

i assume its run counter clockwise?

seems much faster than pocono long road course which only uses 1 full banked turn.

I'm not a member of the Audi Club, can I still attend? Do you have a Solo run group? I'm thinking of bringing my M400, possibly on some new Hoosiers

Yes, you can apply for membership with your Daytona Application. You must be an Audi Club member for event insurance requirements, but it's no big deal - I signed up
for the AC with my first event too.

Solo after checkout ride - also no problem, but I would think, that with the quality of instructors and pros at this event, that for a while you might want to pick their brains before wanting to go alone.

M400 and stickies sounds awesome - go ahead and sign up!

Deetz.
