The TT conversion is 5K because you have to cut the housing in half and shorten it by 50 % to pass the radiators. So to reconfigure the driving and parking light is almost impractical. The NA car takes about 30 hours to hand plastic weld apx 200 pieces to form the molds the way we want them. Then you have to make it withstand the heat and cold fluctuations from outside and reseal the whole unit.

Could a person do these, you bet but it isn't as easy as it looks I assure you.

I will let Karl answer the rest of the questions.
What's your thoughts about plastic weld vs. FG? I would think the later would be easier to work with?

BTW, I think this is how the TT should have came from the factory vs. the golf ball bumper.

Sweet looking car and the craftsmanship shows for sure - great job!

Yes I know exactly how much those Turbo LED blinkers cost as I was at the dealer inquiring about the cost of those LED's before I bought the S6 LED's.

After taking the S6 led's apart I can tell you the design / craftsmanship of the Audi lights are 10x better than Porsche in everyway. Plus it's hyperwhite light vs. the amber.

My guess is that Porsche builds a lot less Turbo's than Audi builds S6's so that is why the cost is so high. I cannot speak for the Porsche unit internals since I have yet to open one up but the S6 lights have full PCB's, SMT LED's that fire upwards into a complex reflector array to get the light output so bright and the unit actually employs a full heatsink inside the housing to keep things cool (sorta like a computer processor CPU chip).

Labor of course is just time and as you have shown us it's quite a few man-hours to get it done and I always appreciate good custom work. Just too bad the cost is a bit high for most to justify it.

thanks for the post,
rick
