I just purchased a GT3, out of state. I have never even sat in a GT3 and I presently own a 07 C4S. My question is will the GT3 be a comfortable car to take on road trips with my wife. The C4S is really a comfortable car. I been offered a trade on my car, so once the car carrier arrives it will unload the GT3 and load my C4S. Will I regret parting with the C4S because of the rough ride or realize the GT3 can to the job as a road car and a fantastic track car. I will also save about $2400 on taxes if I trade verses purchasing the GT3 w/o trade.

hi mark it's not as "plush" as a C4S but in normal mode it's certainly up for daily driving. There's a few creaks/noises and much less sound deadening but most wives I know seem ok with it

 

You will be just fine taking it for a road trip. Congrats!

 

Just don't accelerate to a hundred in less then 10 seconds and all will be good. Just ask me how I know.

Because I have done it, have you?100 mph from a standing start in 8.7 seconds. I have a C4s cab as well and it is almost as good until you hit 60ish and then all bets are off. I can tell you my wife has only rode one time in the GT3 and thats all I have to say...

 

It may not be a fair comparison, but compared to my old 996 C4S (with the X73 suspension), the 997 GT3 is a much more "pleasant" driving experience. Even friends of mine who have ridden in both enjoy the GT3 more. Mind you my 996 C4S had the "racing" X73 suspension, and riding in it with either stock seats or GT3 seats got uncomfortable after a couple hours...not only the stiff suspension but also the 4 wheel drivetrain noise and vibration, or tire noise, became intrusive, especially compared to the 2 wheel drive GT3.

My GT3 has the adaptive sport seats, and on the interstate I drive with the suspension in "standard" mode, and after several hours of driving it is not fatiguing (or "painful") at all.

I am sure you will enjoy the GT3. The C4S is an excellent car. The GT3 is superb. I do not know if it is going from a 996 to a 997 or from a C4S to a GT3, (or probably a combination of both) but they really are totally different cars. Comparing the two is not really relevant...they are that different.

agreed, the GT3 is definetley doable for a daily driver. I just wish I could use mine as a daily driver, gotta almost hide it.

 

I had a '07 C2S (Cobalt blue with aerokit) before I got my '07 GT3. Although the C2S was a very nice car, the GT3 is better. Not as plush, but a better sports car. So much more fun to drive... you won't miss your C4S after you get to know the GT3.

 

The GT3 is an absolutely amazing car, it can be driven to race track very comfortably, do it's job very well and then take you home with the feeling that it was never on the track.

 

Furthermore, it basically will do everything you ask it to do at the track and ask for more. Rock Solid.

I've driven it up to Road America (Elkhart Lake, WI) from Chicago for the weekend with my girlfriend (almost 3 hours each way), comfortable trip both ways. I tracked the crap out of the car for two days in between. Easily seeing 140+ mph in two sections of the track, and 150+ mph on the main straight. I used the same brakes and tires I drove up on for the drive home.

 

Would you ever miss wearing an off-the-rack Hugo Boss suit after wearing a made-to-measure Brioni? Or would you ever miss a Rolex Submariner if you traded it for a limited edition Daytona Chronograph?

That's the difference between a GT3 and a C4S. Like screwing the hottest **** star with no rubber versus playing with a blow up doll in the shower with a rain coat on. That's the difference in driving experience. Period. No other way to put it.

Thanks for the excellent input! Some of you guys are comedians, but the point was well delivered. So under the advisement of " the board" the C4S will go and I will learn to live with the **** star!
