About to jump in more on mods... or should I sell and start over?

HeavyChevy,
Thanks for the thoughts. I'm gonna post it on eBay here soon and see what happens. However, I will tell you that it's faster around a track than a GT3, especially if that track has a long straight, such as VIR. If I get a GT3, it will be modded as well. Yep.
Oh, and I had to ask, in your sig did you mean to write 'the' instead of 'they' in the '...can write doesn't mean the can drive.' quote. Because, if you didn't mean to leave out the y, that's just ironic and funny.
Just some humor.
I'll let you guys know what I end up doing. I guess it depends on if I get the right price out of it. I'll probably special order my baby blue GT3 this week though. If it comes and I don't want it, I'll lose my deposit. It's worth that gamble to me. I'm going to go out to Synergy this week and snap a ton of pics so I'll have something good to show potential buyers.
Rock on.

Can you still order a GT3? Every dealer I talked to (and I talked to a lot of them) told me no when I was looking for my car a few months back. Some folks speculate that there'll be a facelift/mk2 version and, if so, you'll get your chance to order one once Porsche announces the car.

Blakt out,
Thanks for the specs of the Volks.
I've had TE37s in the past using Volk lug nuts. From what I recall, the hole in the wheel that seats the nut is conical in shaperequiring lug nuts with a matching conical base. Do the Porsche bolts fit securely through them onto the TE37, or does the shape prevent it? If so, do you need to use a different bolt set with the Volks?

My sig is a copy and paste job from someone else, so I hereby release myself of any grammatical errors.

Okay, I am going the other way here. You have way too much invested to go back now but I would not drop an additional $33K though.
Motons - $6-7K
LSD - $3.5K
RS Ducts - $250
plus install
so for $10-$12K you will have a much better handling car and you already have the other cup parts, cage, brakes, and plenty of power.
So if you can take not being envious of the GT3's parking next to each other at club events then you will have one heck of a car. It's already there anyway. I see the only weak link being the Bilsteins.

c2mojo,
The Motons and such that I have found are more like $15k. The LSD with the flywheel and clutch (needed to handle the power when tracked) all come to a bit over $8k. So all of that is actually like $23.
I think you've got a point though, especially since I've been trying to get an '08 allocation all day for a GT3. I consider myself a car guy, but somehow didn't know about the 'maybe they'll build an '09, maybe they won't' thing. Plus, all allocations, as I'm told, through July 31st are sold out for all of America with back up lines, well, backed out the door. So it sounds like I have no choice. I wish I knew more about the '09, if there IS an '09. Guesses (again, I'm just now reading all this stuff) include DSG and direct injection. Geesh. As soon as I made a decision (order a baby blue GT3 and sell the S/C'd black car I have) I can't do it. So, maybe I just put in a deposit for an '09, do the suspension and drivetrain as you mention (still $23k for what I know), and drive the wheels off of it until the GT3 allocation comes due.
Oh, and HeavyChevy. You're right. I'd definitely disclose the accident. I have pics though. It wasn't bad at all. Pics will be available for all interested people. I just didn't want them out here all over the forum.
Anybody wanna give up their GT3 allocation?
Please?
Anybody wanna step off some GT3 insider knowledge?
Please?

OK guys,
I made the decision and jumped in with both feet (as if I hadn't already). I was at Synergy yesterday and gave those boys my list. I'm keeping the car, probably forever. I couldn't get any allocation for a GT3, and so I decided to go strong into my S.
So here's what's going on:
Synergy Racing is doing all the work.
They're taking out the Bilsteins and I'm going all the way in with the Synergy Racing custom designed Ohlins race system. It's more expensive then I could ever imagine, but should kick ***. It was a decision I had substantial heartburn over. Other than that, I'm getting them to take out the engine and tranny and install their limited slip, single mass clutch, and lightweight flywheel. They're converting the rear bumper over to a Synergy carbon fiber rear bumper that is off the GT3 mold with the center exhaust. We'll paint it the same color as the car, Basalt Black. I'm ordering a carbon fiber Vorsteiner GT3RS copy rear wing from Dan at Vivid, and it will stay clear coated carbon, deck lid and all. They are making a brake scoop setup of carbon fiber that directs air to all four rotors, and then there's electric fans on the front two with a toggle switch on the inside. This should be really trick. They will be installing (which is not a big deal) the Traqmate data acquisition system, with is really cool and I will be able to have three cameras on the car and see them overlaid on the Traqmate layout of the track, as well as see specific lines and performances of those lines, lap after lap, on my Macbook Pro. I'm excited about that. Other than that, of course I'll be getting a different exhaust since it needs to go through the center. They make their own race exhaust, which has no cats and has mufflers where I can easily add or remove packing as desired. I've got two sets of BBS race wheels (in 18s) coming in with Dunlop slicks on them. Other than that, they're putting some new front grill screens put in (black).
Thanks for all the help, thoughts, and advice that you all gave me. I'll let you know how it is in August.
Jared

I hate to ask what that is going to cost coming from Synergy.
It's going to take until August????? 7+ months for this type of work?
I was hoping to talk you into bringing it to VIR in March so we could see it. Either way good luck with the build, should be very fast, make sure to keep us updated on the progress and get plenty of track pics and video in here when you get it on the track.

Nah, I'm going to Switzerland in a few days, going snowboarding. From there I'll probably go boarding for a few months in China or Japan. My wife and I are going with some really cool Jesus-loving friends and we're going to make some memories. We aren't coming back until August.
As to how much Synergy is charging... well... a ton. But you get what you pay for. That's what I'm banking on at least, and what I believe. Over $30k just in their charges and parts cost of items I'm getting from them.
So I'll come back all bruised up from boarding and ready... ACHING... to track this car. Can't wait.
As for the GT3 stuff, I just love the rear bumper. Can't help myself.

It seems like this is going to be one very special vehicle. With all the GT3/RS bodywork, you'll have the look that you fell in love with. You may have more power, but there's no way to replicate the high RPM's that a GT3 produces. That being said, you've got more power and torque which is especially important when exiting turns and on the long straights. There's no doubt in my mind that this car is faster than a GT3 around most tracks and once the mods are finished will put even more distance between the two. I think you've made the right decision for you considering the mods that have already been made and your current use. But if you get into Racing and not just track days, you're in a no mans land, as someone else said, you'll find your car doesn't belong in any classes other than maybe classes where it'll compete with all out race cars. But you've made your choices and I'm sure you'll enjoy the car just as much if not more than you have already. Since you've gone this far, I would suggest that you have Synergy change the gearing slightly to make the power more useable on the track. The difference on the street should be pretty negligable. But if you're going to go this far, you might as well have the gearing changed while the engine and tranny are already out of the car.
As an avid snowboarder, I wish you a great trip. Sounds like a once in a lifetime experience and one that I could only dream of. I usually put on about 50+ days a season. I live for three things, 1. my girlfriend, 2. My car, 3. snowboarding...not necessarily in that order lol. Enjoy your trip, stay safe and when you get back, your car will be newly prepped and transformed just begging to be driven.

Thanks buddy. Part of me can't wait to get back from Switzerland and track that baby. Congrats on your new GMG stuff too. It's gonna be so sweet.
