Maybe I'm an idiot . . . but how else could you explain guys selling a GT2 in order to replace with a GT3? Or guys who have both cars in the stable, yet the GT3 still gets driven. I remember the first 996 GT2 (was it in '02?) did NOT have the fully adjustable suspension that my 996 GT3 had. Was that changed since?

It is a good idea IMHO. There will be draw backs though. You will not loose the GT3 soul with the vortec SC. I had the Dinan version on my M3 and power band was similar just lots more of it. Detonation will be an issue. Using race gas and water injection will solve the problem. I bet EVO has the hardware and protomotive could tune it for you.

Its really up you. Not cheap but for sure unique.

If installed properly, there will be no increased risk of detonation on 93 octane fuel. It is all about the tuning.

This man is correct!! The EVO kit will not bolt on to a GT3 for the reason stated above, the GT3 uses a REAL Porsche engine!! During the years i worked for EVO i installed 15 or so kits , it for sure will not work.

"I bet EVO has the hardware and protomotive could tune it for you."

no such luck on this^^^^^^^^^, as stated elsewhere in this thread, you would need to make one-off mountings for the blower. Everything else would fit though.

The GT3 TT in the link posted earlier started off on track but in the end it was just a 996 TT engine in a GT3. shame, it was an immaculate car....

What the hell are you talking about x100?! You are coompletely wrong with all of your GT2 information, FOR YOUR INFORMATION!

Why would people have both? Because they are both AMAZING experiences, NA to monsterous/scary power and torque/turbos... Yes I considered going to a GT3, but because I had an M3 track built and LOVED the NA motor, as well as my NA like GT2 motor now, they are just completely different in that sense, but both built for the same pure bred reason, the track!

I like the idea. A 500-550 hp GT3 would be unstopable! And the S/C will have great throttle response.

I think cooling will be an issue though.

Guess I'll have to go research part numbers. To the best of my recollection, it was 2004 in the US before the GT2 got the same susp. as the 3. Not a good use of time . . . but I assure you guys, I'm not as dumb as I sound.

You are wrong on the suspension. 02 GT2's have adjustable suspension.

Look at post #14 in this thread, from a guy who knows what he's talking about. I may have gotten sidetracked on fully-adjustable or not, but my original point about GT2 != GT3 + FI and about the 2 being the better street car (e.g., softer suspension better for a wealthy older dude) stands:

Both of you are ill informed then.. Part of the GT3's edgy feel over the GT2 is simply because its the narrow body giving it a more nimble feel, that's it!
