Are most sequential boxes clutchless? From the description on the website, it seems this just alters the shift pattern from the "H" type to "up-down". I figure the clutch is still needed.

The sequential in the E60 M5 and the E63 M6 BMW's is fantastic and no clutch. The shifts are fast and almost violent but the transmission of the power is outrageous. I am not sure how it would be w/ the Porsche sequential gearbox. I can show you how the E60 M5 SMG tranny feels like.

The clutch is still needed. It just limits mistakes and quickens reaction time. I've seen some race car drivers match the revs for a no-clutch upshift.

This is just the shifter part. It still uses the clutch and I remember Cartronic used to offer it on the 996 models. There was someone here a while ago that tried it and didn't like it. If it might help with the 3rd gear stiffness I'm experiencing though and that's why I'm intersted in it at the moment.

i still think it is a good idea... mechanical over revs suck ... i have seen several people infront of me do the wrong gear and go into quick spin... i hate for them and really hate it when you are right on the bumper

Interesting comments on the same thread over at Rennlist.

http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...d.php?t=405459

It appears that the unit is a "Sequential Shifter" and not a proper sequential gearbox as some have explained above.

The Carbon roll cage notes some very interesting bullet points. I would be VERY surprised if this unit had an interior of alloy. They point out anti-splintering technology, which would have been a question of mine. They point out the TUV approval, and forthcoming FIA. And finally they speak of a computerized model for the winding of the carbon fiber.
Now, further to the point of an interior tube, they needed something to wind it to - What might this be that is either extremely light-weight or what could possibly melt away or "disappear" while in the autoclave.
We need more information.

Looks like great kit though.

Of course the CF cage looks cool, but you guy's are missing the point of it and didn't read the info LOL, its like 65-75% lighter then a steel cage, yet TUV approved and they say just as strong! That's sick.

This tuner seems like the real deal, tested performance enhancing goodies, I like!!!

Edit:

Exclusive! Carbon Fibre Roll Cage for 997 / 996 models
Innovation; the creation of something in the mind; the introduction of a new device, method or process resulting from study and experimentation. Oakley Designs Carbon Fibre Roll Cage is testament to this. The first carbon fibre roll cage in the world.

Whilst carbon fibre roll hoops have been employed in F1, A1GP and GP2 etc. this is the first time we have seen a complete roll cage made from carbon fibre.

Aerospace FEA software is used to analyse every layer of the structure providing a guaranteed level of strength and quality throughout the product.

Benefits:

Patented anti Splinter Technology
Stronger than T45 Cages
75% lighter than steel cages and 60% lighter than a T45 cage
Reduced weight from high up in the car
TUV Approval - FIA approval pending 2009
Weld in or Bolt in fixtures
Single bars can be replaced in event of impact
Exclusive - the only Carbon Cages in the world!
Available for all 997 / 996 Models:

997: GT3 GT2 Turbo 4S & 2S 4 & 2

996: GT3 GT2 Turbo 4S & 2S 4 & 2

Here it is in a MK2 GT3, I have heard a variety of prices. 4K euro for rear section, 7K euro for full cage.
