Question Going to Dyny GT3RS - Whats best way to Dyno?

So going to dyno car today and want to make sure this dyno place knows the best set up to dyno my car.

For example I heard the deck lid should be closed, should sport mode be on?, where should fans be placed, etc..

thanks everyone for the help!

Fred

I'm confused, no input from Alex?

BTW, yes decklid down and fans up front. Champion Motorsport has done all my dynoes on the GT3. Actually need to do one after the GIAC software.

Good luck,

Thanks Juan.

Alex gave me some input but he does not own a dyno and he had some shop do it for him so I'm double checking to make sure from others just in case.

The thing is, alot of the air that goes into the intake area is from the top of the car drafting into the rear deck area, which i don't think any dyno shop can simulate, unless you can get one of the guys to be suspending in the air above the car holding a fan down

I've always been curious about this, because not having that air consumption calculated on the dyno should make it different than real life power no?

Fred-

See Todd's post here:

We now have about 180 dyno pulls on 3 different GT3's. I don't know of anyone else that can boast that.

These are not easy cars to dyno. Even the slightest variance in temp. can send the DME into a different map and give you lower figures.

Temp. control is critical. FANS - FANS - FANS!

Absolutely make sure you've got good cooling and positioned fans... Also make sure the decklid is _shut_ (I know they like to get the rpm signal from the back sometimes and hence keep the lid open) otherwise it sucks in the hot exhaust gases. Sport button on yes. TC off. There's a whole procedure.. we did 46 dynos in two days at EVO a couple of weeks ago

Ear plugs....

As I was saying, since you're going down there next week just drop in on Garrett (GIAC) and have them do it since they know exactly what they're doing and don't have run of the mill equipment either

Talked to the dyno guys so they should be good. Not bad for a first run... after the 1.15 (15% drivetrain loss they have) you're at 431hp and 320 foot pounds of torque. All you have is one _light_ car, GIAC and our straight pipes

crazy1323 is infamous around these parts
Is there a dyno anywhere the can replicate the "ram-air" effect of the car at speed. If I remember correctly from my BMW days, I think Dinan has a dyno in a wind tunnel. It would be intersting to see the actual effect of the "ram-air" style deck lid.

No that is a problem indeed. EVO's goes to 40mph I believe... Either way did some runs with the decklid open vs closed just to see and everytime we were open it was down by 15hp and 10 tq. You have to keep the lid shut otherwise the rain air doesn't work but worse still it sucks the hot exhaust gases up...
