I don't think it's the RTurbo either.. Looks like a MKI Aero 996?

The yellow one is actually an RTurbo, just the first iteration of the 996 RTurbo. They actually used the narrow body (moved the vent up and back) because they said it had better aerodynamics for top speed. I suppose it was to continue their tradition of turbocharged narrowbody 911s. That totally got de-bunked with the next iteration, and obviously the RT12.

I'm not up on my RUFs, but I don't see an intake vent on either. And I've never seen TA wheels on a RUF car.

Don't know if they're still doing CTR conversions. I'm at the Ruf store in Dallas all the time. I know they still do the Turbo R conversions a lot. In fact, one was just completed and sent back to Austin.

Ruf's biz mantra: If the client has the $, we'll build him what he wants.

Only caveat here is Ruf won't go tasteless and get all "Gemballa-esque" for any amount of $$. Only tasteful builds, thank you very much. Of course there's been a few questionable color choices in the past, but he's let those slide.

this sounds right. inquired at Pfaffenhausen some time ago if there were any new (or very nearly new) CTR2's still available. answer was no, but there was some suggestion made that if you really wanted one, they could build a "new" one, from a low-mileage donor 993 of course...

true too about the color choices... i saw a Boxster in green and purple while at the factory! belonged to a lady customer. at the time, it was kept under a cover, and i was asked to not take any photos of it "at the request of the owner"...

in hindsight, i'm thinking that it may not have been the owner who wanted to avoid pictures of that car leaking out!

may i ask

pardon my ignorance but what makes the ruf that special?

why are they more glorified than the other tuners.

since their tuning is limited to the 650 Hp package for the 997
