My dealer told me Porsche is stopping production on both the RS ( i knew that ) but also on the reg GT3.

Will Porsche make a GT3 when the facelifted 997 is introduced ?

I have also heard 2011, but no longer with a dry sump engine (which I find concerning). I suspect the lack of new production for the next 3 yrs will drive up GT3RS desirability further.

Porsche is already publicly testing the "narrow wing" GT3 with minimum camo. My bet is that since it is just a facelift with LED rear lights and re-designed bumpers it will be shown during the 2008 fall Auto Shows. It will be sold as a 2009 model.

The question is will the 2009 911's have Direct Injection and PDK available?

As for a new RS, I would be very suprised if porsche intends to sell a narrow wing GT3 and a wide wing RS.

Not sure I'm feelin' the new tail lights.. the shape looks a little feminine.

Also, I haven't seen a new GT2 in person, but I think I prefer the current GT3's nose vent. The new vent probably looks better integrated up close, but from afar it's not as prominent.

Of course, when the new car's actually seen in the flesh, it'll probably look good.

I was in Stuttgart last week, and It's now confirmed that "Face-Lifted" GT3 would be in production on May09
The engine would be similar to current model, but amazingly would produce a 435hp

Sounds right.
4.8% increase in power (20Hp)
It's in line with the expected power gains from a DFI engine.

If the added hp comes without higher revs, then it's almost certainly DFI. What's the torque figure? That will also be higher for DFI. So will compression ratio and mpg.

Compression ratio higher than 12:1 ?

Is there a chance that it could be a 3.8 L motor?

Yeah, it's high already. But the primary way DFI increases output is by allowing a higher compression ratio without the need for higher octane fuel. It's the increased cr that burns fuel more efficiently, giving more power from less fuel. Without raising the compression ratio, I'm not sure DFI does much for you. (I'm not an expert, I could have it wrong).

I don't think the press release on the facelift DFI 997S mentioned anything about a higher compression ratio. There are more details to come though so it is possible.

The V8 Cayenne went from 11.5 to 12.5 on the DFI version (GTS). I bet we'll see the same sort of compression increase in the upcoming DFI Carreras.
