Roy, get the Exige hands down, or save the money, get an Elise or non SC exige, and do the BWR supercharger kit. We had one in, and its pretty crazy. You could always do a turbo Elise or Exige You will do serious damage on track.

I've driven both, owned a Lotus...
... though my comparison will be to the 997 GT3, not the 996. IMHO, the GT3 is a lot more car, but for a tracktoy I'd choose the Lotus, even if maintenance costs were equivalent, which they're not. The Lotus trannies (post-2006) and Yamaha-built Toyota-design motors really are pretty bulletproof and it's a fantastic chassis. You're in Milwaukee, so I'd say that when you're at Road America you'll regret not getting the GT3, but will really enjoy the Lotus's suspension at Blackhawk, ACC, and Gingerman... you'll probably be about even in a 240R versus a reasonably similar driver in a 996 GT3, both cars on street tires. Save the money and replace the A048's on the Exige 240R with A005's and tow it to the track, or get a spare set of wheels. You can afford to run through tires, etc. without worrying with the Lotus, it becomes a pain with Porsches in my experience (okay, so I skipped the 996 generation, but I speak as a former 993 owner and current 997 owner)... just your preference, in the end, but my view is that the shortcomings of the Lotus (especially in 240R trim) are few, and that almost all of them are not even considerations if used mostly at the track.
Your mileage my vary, but that's my two cents... penny after taxes.

Lotus same on track as gt3? Never seen one that's very fast at all really. But great for learning in.
I'd say if you dont like beating up on your GT3 then club racing shoudlnt be an option anyways and for DE's I'd personally get the GT3 (lotus too tight) but can completely understand if you wanted to get the lotus.
I say if you are going to feel more free in the lotus, get that.

I thought I said for him to get the Lotus.

I didn't say that you hadn't but your bias still supports the gt3 over the lotus which I'm having difficulties understanding.

I said I would choose the GT3 because I'd never seen any fast Lotus's. On top of that at 6'2 it's too tight for comfort for me. So that's bias?
You are trying too hard. Leave it alone.
Besides, this is a Porsche forum, I can be as biased as I want to be.

The problem with lotus elise/exige is that they are underpowered, even the 240, so they tend to be kinda slow on tracks with long straights. The good thing is that the engine responds well to forced induction. I would recommend buying an N/A exige and getting a turbo kit on it. Forcedfed.com has several turbo kits available, up to 400hp. 400hp and 1,900lbs should be ridiculously fast on any track.

The simplistic answer. Its the link that controls rear toe. It is connected to the sub frame at one end and the upright (hub carrier) at the other.

You can be as biased as you want. But don't you think it's more important that he drive the right car for him?
Your right I am trying really hard. I'm trying to figure out how to talk to someone who is as biased as you.
