Can 996 GT3 Engine Be Modded to 997 GT3 Power Levels ??

George, I think what you need to do you just do it. You can easily add about 40HP/40TQ with the right exhaust, cats, and ECU. Some may even do custom tune rather than software update. Best of luck, I would do any mods in a heart beat. Just the feel of the car going head to head with a 997 GT3 would be awesome. Not to mention pulling from a stock 996 GT3.

useable hp, no
it's very hard to gain hp and not screw up the power curve on gt3. if you want hp, get gt2.

My understanding is the 996 & 997 GT3 engines are very similar, both use the GT1 block. However, stock vs stock, the 997 has a much louder & better sounding exhaust. So I am guessing it is less restrictive? So be sure to keep that in mind when you drive a stock 996. Anyways, we all know exhaust can be upgraded easily. The rest of the mods I don't know anything about since my 996 is 100% stock garage queen

Hi Mooty,
Please explain the horsepower gains vs. "useable" horsepower. Aren't they the same thing? How will it be different in the power band between 4500 to 7500 RPM?

& a few on ebay now. The seal grey looks pretty good by description and the black one only has 1900 miles
That said, I have read a lot of negatives on earlier generation PCCB. So do your research before hand.
Good Luck!

Nice 3s pops up every now and then. But 2s are harder to come by, a friend of mine was looking for one last year but gave up because either it was asking too much or wasn't well care for. But luck seems to be on your side as I did see one for sale on RL recently:

996 GT3 power improvers -- software (I hear good things about FVD - 20 usable HP), exuast...
also re-gear will not improve HP but may be worth looking into...

If I was 996 GT3 shopping I would be strongly considering this car:

No, I couldn't find it. I searched a couple times and gave up. If you have the website address, that would be great. How much power does it give you? What are the components.... exhaust, ecu, etc?

Yikes that's a lot for 30 hp!? IMHO unless you've got lots of money to waste, spend that 10-15k in making the car lighter (flywheel, seats, exhaust, wheels, etc) wear parts (pads, rotors and tires), and safety gear (toe links, half cage, HANS, etc). On the track doing those parts will have a much greater effect than gaining 30 hp. Additionally losing roughly 100+lbs, having lighter wheels, stickier tires and a LWFW i honestly dont think a 410 hp stock GT3 will pull very hard on you but that's just a guess.
