The New GT3 Comes Out in July 09
At least, that is what we were told yesterday by Porsche Middle East at the launch of the new 911 for the region.
The wait will be short!!
Porsche will release details of the new GT3 in about one month. As of now, nobody knows here if it will be offered with PDK, or what will be the engine size and power. One thing for sure: it will be an ultra performance version of the new 911 engine, with the same aim to reduce weight and emissions, lower center of gravity, while increasing performance. I was told that a 50 HP gain compared to our existing GT3s is what is being aimed for. Fingers crossed!
No official confirmation of an upcoming RS, although everybody expects it.

sounds great!
though doesn't an increase of 50HP over the current car seem a bit optimistic?
let's see... mk1 997S had 355HP, and GT3 was at 415, for difference of ~60HP
mk2 997S is at 385HP... if new GT3 has +50 vs current model, that takes power up to say, 460HP... or a delta vs mk2 997S of ~75HP...
would be great if Porsche stepped up like that, but i have a feeling the increase won't be this high.
here's hoping though!!!

440 bhp is most likely, as that would place it on equal grounds with the new 997 cup 'S' (althought the cup S is still MPI).
Remember for the 996 - the difference between the Mk.1 and Mk.2 GT3s was only 21 bhp (360 & 381 respectively), so it is unlikely for there to be more than a 40 bhp difference between the Mk.1 and Mk.2 997 GT3s, although it all depends what they do with the new direct injection.

If it has 450, you would have 95hp more then me. I think that you would need to do a lot more track days if you had a 997.2 GT3

hate to be cold water on any fire...
im an RS lover as much as anyone, but lets not discount the possibility that the car doesn't come out at all.
These are incredibly difficult times right now in the economy. Porsche's stock has reflected their recent sales, falling off the shelf.
Buyers who maybe were reaching up for a C4S or a 911 lease arent doing it. IN my neck of the woods, a buddy at a well established pcar shop, was the head of sales. He left. he said they dids osmething like 66 cars last year last sept, and like 11 this sept, of which 4 were cars from previous months not picked up.
i guess my point is...it all sounds good, but these are new times economically for the entire planet. if things were to continue the way they are now, it would not surprise me to see a host of potential things occur, including their cancelling plans on certain highline, high overhead, low volume cars....all thew ay to the potential of their getting bought out or sold.
these are wierd times. do i think it will happen? i hope the heck not. but noone shoudl discount that. and , definately, 150%, be super careful about leaving deposits at dealerships, even the finest. that chevy dealership was the largest in the country; i think i read they did 3.4 billion in sales, 1500 employees. they went bankrupt and i believe i read they were sittin on millions of customer deposits not in any segregated accounts.
dudes, these are the times in which we find ourselves for the moment. porsche cant go ahead and say those things, but you'd be crazy to think highend executive meetings arent taking place discussing the ways to save money and keep the company going.
just some food for thought...didnt mean to be a buzz kill.
I love PORSCHE!
