First oil change on my new GT3!
Drove my new 996 GT3 home from El Paso Friday. Boy, does this car like to hunt on the road. lol Not wise to ever have a loose grip on the wheel.
Anyway, I am going to change the oil, but the owner's manual doesn't give any directions that I could find. I have changed it on 986/996 motors before, but not a dry sump motor.
Then I was going to pull and replace the filter.
I was just going to warm up the engine and then pull both plugs at the same time. Or should I drain one and then the other? I haven't even been under there yet. Are the drain plugs obvious?
I know overfilling is a no-no, but since you have to have the car running to check the oil (at least electronically), how do you sneak up on the right amount without going over? Add X quarts, then check it?
I am sure there must be a write-up on this somewhere. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks In Advance

Purchase a proper oil filter wrench that will accept a torque wrench as you will need one to properly tighten the filter housing. I removed the engine drain first and let it totally drain and reinstalled plug with new washer before taking plug out of tank. I put paper toweling around filter area to catch any overflow but as I recall when I removed the filter housing there was little oil left in there. After draining and changing filter I added 8 qts and ran engine to check gauge and just added more until I got a near full reading. It took approximately 9.5 qts. I found the dipstick hard to gauge with clean oil so I'm trusting the electronic gauge.

The biggest aid would indeed have been an oil filter wrench. I am used to it being hand tightened on my boxsters. I ended up using a band wrench as the only thing that worked.
Anyone have a part # / source for an oil filter wrench that works? I have a shallow cup one (with a hole for a socket), but it slips and so is the wrong size I fear.
