GT2 and RT12 drive
some pics from Sunday drive (sorry for poor pics, the white balance on my camera was on the wrong setting)
oh, and about 180mph in the C63 camera car. not too shabby
was able to drive both 911's back-to-back. quite an interesting comparison, and reinforces that just because they look alike, doesn't mean they drive alike
impressions:
RT12
- much more of a street car (softer riding, very easy clutch)
- though exhaust noise much louder
- very noticeable power advantage vs the GT2 (no surprise)... RT12 has somewhat old school power delivery, relative to the GT2
GT2
- very much more a track car - firmer suspension, carbon brakes nicer feeling than the steels on the Ruf, feels much more "lithe" and "agile", largely i think because of the sweet steering;
- not quite as "hardcore" as a GT3 though... would be suitable for a daily drive (easier riding than GT3, quiet exhaust, maybe a bit too quiet,) if not for the clutch pedal which is not far off from the GT3, and would be murder in bumper to bumper traffic (as we have here)
- acceleration more linear than Ruf... it is fast, but you do notice a 150hp+ deficit...

yup, 100% stock. speed limiter removed as part of optional performance pack.
yeah, 7th is an extreme overdrive!

Wow those roads look empty! Seems like it would be great for taking a RT12 to its maximum velocity. I suppose the fact that you got the c63 up to 186 proves that as well.
The roads look perfect too, nice and smooth
Is there usually more traffic than that? Do you get in a lot of trouble for speeding?
Nice comparison of the GT2/RT12 as well.

yup, took the RT12 up to around 218mph (GPS verified and on our crappy pump gas) earlier this year. i actually have that on video, but never got around to uploading it. its quite a shaky video, as it was my passenger's handheld camera.
trouble for speeding... you can usually talk your way out of it... or get a slap on the wrist... or a less than $20 fine (already considered a very expensive ticket in this country)...
