I think the potential risk would be for your motor to get hot. I don't know if it would actually "overheat" or not.
A few times in the hot, hot summer, ...when idling my car for a long time (waiting in the car while wife is shopping), a warning light would come on that said something along the lines of "cooling fan error". Basically, the car wanted to kick on the fan, but there is no fan, hence the error. Hendrick Porsche told me not to worry about it.
The error light would go away on its own once you started driving the car. This has happened to me about 2 or 3 times since the conversion.
If you were tracking the car in the hot summer, you would probably want to open the decklid between run sessions to cool your motor, and to pimp you cup intake!

I'm not sure if the intake was a direct fit or not. I do know that Synergy Racing had to custom fit the stock MAF to fit the Cup intake, because the Cup MAF is different than stock (2 piece, I think). Then there are the mounting brackets.
I'm not sure what else was involved. Perhaps you contact Kerrigan (he's a member of 6speed, 'Kerrigan Smith' and has posted earlier in this thread) and he can give you more information. He's a real knowledgeable guy.
