Carrera GT onboard lap Nordschleife

I don't know if you heard about the"Battle Royale 2008" which was at the Nurburgring Nordschleife in July 2008?
A car collector from Switzerland sent 5 cars of his collection to the Ring and let Marc Basseng (german driver in Nurburgring Endurance Race series "VLN") drive them around for new besttimes.

Yesterday finally the last video was uploaded, so now you can see all inboard laps at www.supercarmovies.com

You will find:
Koenigsegg CCX
Ferrari Enzo
Maserati MC12
Pagani Zonda C12 F Clubsport
Porsche Carrera GT

Specially the last one should be interesting for some people in here, or not?
And yes, the CGT was slower than Enzo, MC12 and Zonda F, but who cares?

amazing how they are able to match or better factory claimed times, yet when manufactors make bull**** claims like Nissian with the GTR or Chevy with the Vette no mags are able to even come close, unless you do this and do that, and use these tires on this day where the magical fairy gnome pops outta 4th turn and sprinkels the exact amount for fairy dust and yada yada yada.

in car video

Very impressive video. Especially nice with the graphic of the car's position on the track. I would have liked to have also seen gear position and a tachometer.

Did they just make one run? I suspect as the driver gets used to each car, the runs will become faster. When watching the CGT video, it seems he could have been a bit more aggressive on the rough parts of the track, or kept the revs higher coming out of some turns. His discussion at the end seemed to imply he needed to learn about the car a bit more.

ahh quit armchair racerboy racing bill only do it if you've done it yourself else you're talking out of your rear - fantastic vids, fantastic driving, special event

out of those cars, the cgt still sounds the best bar none.

with that said, forced to choose 1, it'd be the pagani no question.

I agree

but something I noiced about the sound from driving one and the video. It sounds good on the outside to others, on the inside its just a smooth sound, nothing special. Very NSX like
the Zonda sounds very good on the outside, but even better on the inside!!
I like to drive my cars rather than watch and listen to people drive by me, thus the Zonda sounds the best

They had the Ring for one week and the times were driven day after day (unwritten rule for besttimes at the Ring: only one record-drive per day). So he learned something about the cars before (and, what he didn't say, he lost the Koenigsegg in the rain between Pflanzgarten 2 and Schwalbenschwanz (it only rained in that area, which isn't unusual at the Ring)). It is said that there will be another record attempt in next year with some more cars of the same collector (no more infos up to now, we will see).

The site is really awesome. The videos are really high quality and even the ones that aren't the supertest at the 'ring are worth watching just because you get to see the cars with really crisp and clear video. It's a little wierd though because there are all of these videos about supercars but there's nothing about the owner and who's making them.
