seems like 3.8L is more realistic per motor authority, no?

autoblog states its gonna be a 4.0 engine, 435hp, 0-60 in 4.1

you gotta be kiddin me. 0.4 liter increase only gives 20 hp gain? and nothing to acceleration?
I think it will be a 3.8, and with 435 hp the GT3 just to get an idea, the GT3 will be a 122-124 mph trapping car as Porsche ALWAYS underrate the GT3's by a good bit.

I cant beleive I'm reading this thread and everyone is overlooking the MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION.

DFI
20 more hp
PDK (eh)
And improved suspension
Centerlock wheels

This car is going to be sick!!!! It could get back to weighing under 3100 lbs and have a 20hp bump at the same time! Get with the program, this is a RACE BRED CAR, that's whole foundation is RACING.

Have you guys watched what Porsche did to the Ferrari's this year after getting beat one year? How about Daytona and what they did to the tube frame Mazdas and Pontiacs and Mustangs? You know if Porsche does anything for the GT3 it's going to be functional. They are ultra competitive and if you aren't salivating over what this car will do to a track then you've lost sight of the whole reason for the inception of the GT3.

In the right hands this car will be something SPECIAL. MUST HAVE ONE!!!

Hmmm the updated GT3 may get me to ditch my M3.

I just don't understand the 4.0 liter 435 horsepower, I would have expected around 450 with that displacement.

Well, seems that no one has a consensus on what the displacement actually will be.

I think 3.8 without PDK would be more realistic for 997.2

Maybe 998 will get a 4.0 DI engine with PDK. and with some mild tuning, we may see 500hp from a natural flat v6! lol, im dreaming again.

Yes it is. Nothing is mentioned about any transmission except manual.

Casey,
Can you find out if the lifting system will be able to be retrofitted to the 997.1 GT3/RS?

If no PDK I'd sure be happy. I don't think PDK belongs in a GT3. Would undoubtedly make shifting easier because keeping a GT3 in the powerband is a PITB. You have to shift like lightning.

But the GT3 was never made to be easy. PDK belongs in the TT.

Wait, I don't see anything about DFI either. They could be saving that for the 998.

Overall, I'm impressed. Isn't that MSRP higher than before though?

I hope PDK stays away from GT cars..

3.8 is what I read?

Car will look best in black with new wheels (to hide some ugly new lines).

Overall it will be nice! Hope it has DFI.

"... saw the web special, then I... " (see youtube video)
