997 brake dust is infamous around these parts
Awesome article! It's cool to be able to ask questions to the guys that are featured in an international porsche mag. Sorry if this has been asked in a different thread - blakt out , why did you decide to eliminate the super charger? Seems to me that was part of the package that earned the title fastest narrow body 997. I'm asking because that's one mod that really intrigues me.

regards,

I also want to congratulate Jared, Alex, the folks at Synergy as well as the editors and writers at Excellence. It's a fabulous piece and reflects on some great enthusiasts and engineers who have taken each car down their respective paths to the near limit.
Interesting as well in that I suspect few are surprised with the analysis or conclusions reached in this article. The TT's weight, fly-by-wire feel, and brute force, the Cayman's balance, low polar moment, steering feel and relative light weight, and the 997S' best ever rear-engined/narrow-bodied P-car with amazing braking, balance and drive-by-throttle behavior.
If ever I purchased a second Porsche, it very well might be a Cayman accompanied by a significant license to upgrade over at Alex' place. Including the SC. I've always felt that it was the best feeling and handling car I've ever sampled.

That's just a mere snippet:P There's a lot of extra stuff in the mag (as well as vs SnowBoarder's GT3) so hopefully you guys keep on supporting Pete and his staff over there. It's getting so empty as far as car mags go on the shelves and Excellence is one that _needs_ to stay

Cheers brake dust and it's cool for us too since we're just part of this same community here and even more cool that we got to meet Jared! It's funny when you read these posts, see pictures etc... but something else when you meet people in person

Thanks very much Verde- that means a lot! Synergy/Blak-out's car looked even better in person than in the pix (and it looks gorgeous in those pix). It's good to see Synergy/Blakt-out's work all come together because a project like that isn't easy to dial in. Usually you end up with something good on the street or good at the track but not both. And when I say "street" I'm talking hundreds of miles of Northern California's best roads (no mean feat because I drove some of them in the GT2 vs RS story for Excellence as well). As far as the Cayman goes it took us a while to get our skates on... As far as the power goes EVO, RSS and we all sat down during several meetings in SoCal to take the care more seriously. We'd already had the car about a year and honestly hadn't done too much to it. With TC Design's help on suspension set up and JWGT2's constant trips to the track we slowly but surely turned up the **** (and dialed it back a few times) to dial her in for track duty. Our LWF was something that really livened her character up... but to go to the next level we had the car live at EVO in AZ for about 3 months towards the end of summer. She was fine tuned/tested all of the hardware both on the dyno and street and hence the RS350 kit evolved. Whilst she was there, pro driver Mike Speck actually took her out for some track testing and gave us some really good feedback and props so we knew she'd taken a few strides The call came from Excellence and I wasn't exactly sure what she'd be up against but the chance to just get feedback (good, bad and/or ugly) from them was well worth it. I respect the way they drive/test and I feel it's a really good representation of what a lot of folks want/like when the come through our door. Anyways TMI probably but my only regret (other than not installing an LSD, largely due to warranty concerns) was that the meeting of minds at EVO, RSS and SharkWerks didn't happen sooner in terms of the car itself as she was so much more fun to drive around by year two!

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to drop a line to all locals:

I'll have the car "up front" at this Saturday's Cars & Coffee event at European Auto Garage in Knoxville, TN. They have a ton of awesome cars lined up already!

Hope to see some 6speeders there.

Jared

Damn Jared,

Sorry to see you are selling the car. I was hoping for another comparo with my GT3 now that SW has set me up with all new suspension bits and James is working on my 3.9 conversion! If you ever make it out this way let me know, we'll go for a drive. Good luck in whatever your new venture is.

I'm not 100% sure on selling my baby. If I keep her, I'd LOVE to do another comparo! That's all the reason I need to come back out that way!

Thanks much, and take care.

Jared
