997 Gt3

I used to track my old 964, but have not been willing to do so with my 993. Therefore, I haven't tracked in over 6 years. It's time to change that.

I was at the dealer this weekend discussing getting my name on the list for a 997 GT3. Sounds like an outstanding track car. The sales rep mentioned something in the conversation about the engine having 8 bearings instead of 7 in the standard car. What bearings are these and how is 8 better than 7?

New to the board, but a P owner for 8 years.

997 GT3 BEARINGS

the answer is easy. It always had 8 main bearings. It is based on the original air cooled lower end. Hence the exceptional reliability in HP to CC ratio.

Hopefully, Porsche AG will offer a 997 GT3 streetcar that will have a 3.8Liter GT3 engine with a substantial power increase over earlier cars.

Hopefully, Porsche realizes that they will have to increase the GT3 power to atleast 425HP or more so the car can "handle" the 495HP Ferrrari F430, Lamborghini Gallardo and the 2006 Corvette Z06 (suppossedly 500+HP).

Could you imagine 440HP with sequential gearbox, long lasting PCCB brakes, 2900lbs with A/C along with a wild aerokit for $110,000.00

Sounds like a winner to me. Have a great weekend

I can imagine everything except the $110,000 price. If it happens, it'll probably be north of $120,000.

Right now there is no 997 GT3! I hope I'm wrong.
