Question for GT3 owners...

So F1 drivers will be wearing skirts and high heels - whatever will they think of next to attract audiences lol

Yep...but I will wait for the next gen RS, not the .2 car. I have it reserved at my dealers even though its years away. I will keep my '08 RS and add the next gen car, probably with paddle shift if its available.

I don't hate the idea of the PDK, its an amazing tranny. Its ten times better than the tiptronic. I just think it wouldn't fit the GT3 image, It'll be great in a Turbo. Leave the flappy paddles to the red cars. Thats just my opinion.

I am sorry, I am a boots and bluejeans guy, as I love to heal toe downshift on the track and don't want PDK. Next the gps unit will tell me when to turn in and track out. I like the work of shifting I like the current 7/3 and for 20 hp I would chip my car before trading in for a new one. But that maybe too that I can't afford to trade up anyway.

LOL now that's an honest assessment... Love it!

With regards to their GT cars....it's more about racing for Porsche than anything else. Remember, every little incremental change is usually translated directly from, or for the Cup cars and RSR. They are constantly updating and improving their race cars, and with homologation rules being a critical component of the series they run in, it's necessary for them to implement these incremental changes on a regular basis so that Porsche continues to be the most successful racing car manufacturer and supporter in the world, which ultimately translates to sales to all the "aspiring-racers" or enthusiasts buying their market leading, GT street cars.
These guys really know what they are doing. I have no problem with Porsche making a boatload of money because they offer such fantastic products and support to virtually every level of racer or ethusiast. Even at their level, it's all about racing, that's what I love so much about Porsche.

I somewhat agree. So far I have added about $20K into my RS with the carbon 997 GT3 seats, sharkwerks bypass, RS98 wheels. The new 997.2 GT3 is a better value. However, it will still cost around $130K for a 'loaded' one with all the options. I'd likely take a loss on the sale depending on how far RS values fall. At least the GT3 doesn't have the widebody fenders of the RS or the wide carbon wing . I might consider a new RS if it could be had with PDK with paddles (no buttons).
My current 997.1 GT3 (w/o nav) came in at $137K.
BTW it is for sale.
The new GT3 looks sweet. I'm not too sure about that "baby RS" wing.
I hear the GT2 seats are an option. No PDK or direct injection still.
The cool things are the centerlock hubs, no sunroof and the motor mounts.
The 3.8 is still the same case. I guess you now get the conversion done by Porsche.
For more power in the future what would be cool are direct injection, more aggressive cams and improvement in the throttle body (or multi-throttle bodies).
Cheers

I am sorry but I must disagree. I highly doubt that a new 997.2 GT3 fully loaded will come in at $130K.

I also feel that for those who are concerned with street performance, the addtional 17 or 18 lb/ft of torque spread over a broader rev band will work wonders in a 3075 lb. car.
With that said, your GT3 is one bad *** machine. I love any view of that car and I don't even now everything that you've done to it. I know it is quite extensive.

911dev are you sure about that GT3 weight of 3075lbs?
Believe me I would love it.
With all the mods my GT3 weighs 3022 lbs as per the track scales. That is w/o fuel. I have gone through weight reduction plus running the Dymags.
I think what I saw was a weight of 1475 Kg. = 3,245 lbs.
The new GT3 will sweet. I understand the new base price will be $112,500.

Not sure about the weight. I saw it posted on this forum. You would have more knowledge on the subject than me.
Porsche has the base at $112,200. I figure another $13-18k will cover most everything sans PCCBs; we'll see.

PDK great on the street, no so on the track
My experience with my earlier M5 is that I prefer a stick, because I can touch the shifter and know what gear I am in. Not so with PDK. Got to look. Hey, I should be able to hear the engine and know, but I like the extra assurance.
