Can it really? I would imagine that car has some pretty trick systems to independently control brake bias, differentials etc..... I'm not even sure a stock STI could do that but we need an expert in here to confirm

Agree. Repost, but okay! My guess is GT3 couldn't do that.... too tail happy. GT3 is easy to initiate a drift (i.e. oversteer), but harder to transition out smoothly. For drifting, you want more weight in the front with RWD or AWD w/rear bias. This allows for easy and more predictable transfers. but that is just my 2 cents.

Okay, I was just kidding. But driving like that has more to do with the driver's skill than a particular model of car.

Agreed, but I was assuming that the hypothetical driver had equal skills........

I don't think a GT3 can do it quite like that. For example: at the really sharp turns, it seems to me that the driven front-wheels pull the car to a straight line. In a RWD car you would have to be countersteering and lifting the throttle in order to get it out of that deep drift angle.

But who am I, I've never drifted / driven like that.

With AWD and near 50/50 weight distro you can get 90 degree drifts and pull the car out. Even with a 997tt and its AWD there is too much weight in the rear and RWD bias so you wont get out of a 90 degree drift the car will come around in a spin. So you wont be able to pull such dramatic drifts in a 997tt and you will have to countersteer a lot more in a GT3 as well because it wont bite and drive in the direction pointed when you come out of a drift.

In AWD you dont really counter steer you more steer towards center to pull the car out because once the grip comes back it just jumps in the direction the steering wheel is pointed.

The 997tt is in the middle, you correct more by steering straight than counter steering, it will bite and drive off in the direction you point it, but you cant get 90 degree drifts.

I got dibs on Walter to put that vid to shame.

Did you see the vid of him in the new GT3, it looks like the car was on rails even when it was sliding through the corners.

GT3 drifting....without any "edits" to make the driver look more skilled:

seems the snowy/slippery conditions aid the GT3's drift by sliding the front tires vs. having more grip like on dry pavement (less front grip keeps the car from over-rotating). if you watch the 2nd vid, when on dry pavement and drifting during a sharp turn, the cars over-rotate... see 1.30 and so on.

thanks for sharing those vids. here is one of my favs...love the sound! And the driver pulls the turn off perfectly!
