GT2 Exhaust Recommendations

Everything about the GT2 is impressive..........all except the exhaust note. The titanium construction and design are impressive, but is there a way to get more "noise" out of it or is the only way an aftermarket exhaust system?
And if the later is the case, what brand system would GT2 owners recommend? TIA

Hey Kuzi, AWE always is at the top of the hierarchy-- and I know they (somewhat) recently finished up a system for the 997 GT2. Mike is also an awesome guy, can't imagine anyone better to deal with.

All you need to do is change the cats. This is the route taken by RS Tuning, as well as some other tuners. The factory Akrapovic exhaust is pretty hard to beat and not that restrictive at all. With proper sport/race cats alone you will get more noise as well as a 20hp boost.

Do you know which cats RS Tuning uses or recommends?

I'm leaning towards the titanium GMG system..........but if there was a way to use the existing titanium OEM system and get the sound I want without sacrificing performance, then I'm all ears.

The rs-cat only route is the way to go.

Yup that's the same thing that Cargraphic/RS Tuning did/does.... I agree the factory one is pretty impressive. Not like the 996/997TT stock system that's for sure.

We have a Ti system for the GT2 that is lighther sounds better and makes more power than the standard system.

This is the same system that is on our 997 WC-GT2 that was featured on the cover of the February 09 issue of European Car.

Here is some info the system
http://www.gmgracing.com/porsche_exh...997gt2ti.shtml
it is also available in stainless steel and weighs in at roughly the same weight as as the stock Ti system.

997 WC-GT2 in Ti shown below:

Here is a picture of the system installed on the car with the 4" tips.

Jason @ Park Place Porsche just installed one of our systems on a clients GT2 and was very very pleased.

A sound clip/video the sound is the same as our WC-GT 997TT system:

If anyone has any questions please feel free to email me directly or call the shop.

This is one legit system. Sound clips definitely dont do it justice. It's sound is so clean in person but with a motorsport roar, just like a Porsche should sound.

Joe, thank you so much.

For those unfamiliar with our exhaust set up, please visit our web site. It is filled with comprehensive test data.

See here:
http://awe-tuning.com/pages/shared/p...fm&PPT=Exhaust

Also for you GT2 owners, we are highly recommending Intercoolers on these cars. They suffer from huge spikes in intake air temps causing the power to fall off very quickly.

You have two obstacles you have to overcome. One, these turbos generate considerable heat and intense hot air is entering the motor. The cooler the air going in, the more power you make. Second is DME programming. If the DME sees too high an intake temp it will switch to less aggressive mapping which will result in a loss of power and torque.

IC data can be found here:
http://awe-tuning.com/pages/shared/p...t2intercoolers

Lastly, G.I.A.C. has developed full switch able programming with multiple independent maps for the new GT2.

That data can be found here:
http://awe-tuning.com/pages/shared/p...&IL=997gt2giac
