Awesome write-up Mike!! I know you had to battle your car a little to get everything right, and it's great to see everything finally come together!
I think you should get a rolling cart for your desktop instead
Shipping will vary greatly depending on where you live and whether or not we ship it to a residence. As you can see from the first pic it is a big delivery and considered a hazardous materiel due to the airbags. PM me your zip code for a quote!
Kevin, you've been jonesing for these seats since they got announced a year ago!

Steve, thanks for all you help in getting the GT2 seats and advice on installing the sub mount bar. I just love them!
Yes, shipping is a chore. Steve and crew at Suncoast will first inspect the seats then repackage again for freight. It's a-lot of work but it will arrive in tip top shape. Contact suncoast and they will take care of ya
Hey mdskipper, I know what you mean by trying to find a seat that fits. I am 6'1" with a tall torso. It's hard to find seats that fits without hitting my head. The GT2 seat sits low enough where my head clears the roof with plenty to spare. I can wear my helmet and still have plenty of space left
Kevin .... as Spike Lee would say - Just do it ...lol
Hey Steve and Chardonet, I took your advice and got a rolling cart for my desktop lol. As you can see, I have my priority straight .... holes in my pants and socks but brand new GT2 seat

Nice work Mike!
Love the GT2 seats, expecially in the lightweight cloth!
I only have one question: Why is the GMG roll bar a completely different green than the car? Every picture shows the color way off.

Steve, I know but with the economy the way it is now, it's hard justifying spending $7K..............unless you can sweeten the deal a little.

As general information, these same seats on leather are a little heavier:
Driver's Side: 35 lbs
Passenger's Side: 38 lbs
I put a TC Design bar, it bolts to mounting plates on the floor and the strut tops, it weighs 63 lbs and it's much stiffer than the stock 997 RS bar I had before. My RS OEM bar was just 46 lbs, and extremely noisy. Werks II had my TC Design bar painted in the factory RS Orange, and installed. Powdercoating can't match the body colors.
The seats side airbags are just 1.5 lbs each, removing these airbags can save 3 lbs, but you need to glue to plastic covers rather than bolting them.
My stock seats weighed 50 lbs and 57 lbs.

Alex, glad you like how it turn out
Yes, the color on GMG roll bar is kind of off - a bit too much yellow tint. It was hard to match color with powder coat. It looks very good in person even though the color is off
Kevin, I am sure you will be able to strike a good deal with Steve. I would say get the GT2 seats if you plan on keeping the car for a while and use it on the track
The weight on the leather version of the GT2 seats sounds right since leather is heavier compare with cloth. I won't go as far as removing the side impact airbag

Hey Steve (at Suncoast):
How about a group buy on the seats? I am one of the guys that kept pestering you guys for close to a year on the GT-2 seat availability updates. Alas, when they became available, I couldn't afford them due to being laid off! This project has injected a new interest in getting them.

We keep trying to find out a way to do just this, but are always faced with a couple problems. You'd be surprised how freakishly low the profit margin is on these things, just to stay competitive with the other vendors. It definitely takes away our ability to offer any substantial discount, even to our high volume wholesalers. To be honest, if we could get enough people to commit, we might be able to pull off $6500 plus shipping on the leather seats, and a comparable discount off of the cloth seats, but that's really it. Then we face the issue of availability...there might be a half dozen or so in the states, so some people in on the GB might have to wait a month or two to get their seats. Perhaps one day we'll be able to get a killer deal from Porsche on them, like we do on the 996 GT3 seats (which we have priced at over $1000 below dealer cost), but that probably won't be for quite a while (think years instead of months).
Please direct any questions to me directly over PM, email, or phone and I'll be more than happy to help you out!
Thanks guys!
