First, awesome facility.
Nice 996 GT3. Those are great dyno results.
You state in your text that the car has no engine power mods.
If I am not mistaken a stock 996 GT3 is rated from factory at 380 bhp.
So I am unclear how the car puts down 375 rwhp without any power mods?
This would have to be a freak motor from factory making 430 to 440 bhp OR the motor does have power mods?

My 997 GT3 (stock 415 bhp) dyno'ed between 360 to 363 rwhp.
Using software, FVD headers with race exhaust and Porsche Motorsport Cup pulley my GT3 dyno'ed 392 rwhp and 285 rw lb/ft torque.
http://picasaweb.google.com/whitneyd...GT3DynoResults#

So in conclusion how does a stock 996 GT3 have a DT loss of 1% and put down more torque than a modded 997 GT3?
I guess the answer is my GT3 is a piece of $h!t.

Good day gentlemen.

ErikG is infamous around these parts
Is that an 04 or 05 ?. Does it have over 18K miles on it ?. Looks identical to my old GT3 that I sold to CT. Sold it with the above mods. Not too many Cobalt Blue GT3's out there.

Supposedly, the 996 & 997 GT3 engines aren't really all that different. The 996 appears to be underrated for some reason. The 997 received a few factory tweaks, mostly to smooth out and broaden the power band, but not really adding to the total power output.

If what you are saying is true then with the new 997 GT3 was a hype from the factory.
They talked about the increase compression, increase TB size and the "new" internals, lighter crankshaft ... all those things were to hook us?
Well they got me.

I'll take the discussion a step further. Why bother considering the upcoming 997.2 GT3 then. It's more money and the engine changes appear also to minimal. No direct injection yet and no PDK.
Better to get a clean well kept 997GT3 or 996GT3.
Oh btw my GT3 is for sale.
Cheers,
Ranger

First, Sorry for not getting into details on my post. I will be ALOT more specific next time around.

Ranger,

I apologize for leaving some info out! The GT3 has exhaust and headers (stock tune), I thought stated that above. The first thing that comes to mind is "all dyno's are different". Also keep in mind climate/altitude effects all engines. Since these motors can vary a couple HP's hear and there, that being said, I think a 10hp increase from headers/exhaust is low!!! It should of gained more in my book. MD numbers are typically low but those are pretty stong considering the power/ratio is amazing on the GT3.

Your GT3 is not a piece......the dyno's are different! Thats ALL!!!

PS: the GT3's temps were low during the dyno pull which would also help out its HP numbers.....

Dude chill out, you know you can't compare dyno's from different parts of the country. Lots of people have dynoed 370+ whp in stock 996 GT3's. They were highly underrated.

That being said, the 997 GT3 is a good bit faster in straight line acceleration even with a good 100-150 lbs of extra weight.

Man, the drama....................

Yeah, a little sensitive I'd say, lol.
I"m just saying that there have been dyno results on several 996 motors that seem to indicate they were underrated at 380.
