GT3 RS or 997.2 GT3?
Been considering buying an '07 or '08 RS for a while now, but with the new car .2 GT3 coming out later this year, it's got me thinking a bit..I plan on DRIVING the car, not just looking at it in the garage. It won't see the track much, if at all. I like to drive my cars 2K - 5K miles a year. Interested in hearing opinions.

Hey Eman..........have you driven Mark's RS? Just checking around, it seems that RSs can be had for a decent price at the moment. And from everything I have heard about them, its definitely a drivers car. Plus it may become more rare then the GT3.II

From a collector's view - I would say the RS.
From an aesthetic view - I would say the RS.
But if you're going to drive it a lot, I might suggest the new GT3. It does, afterall, have the newer looks and some other fancy upgrades - nicer NAV, better engine/brakes/suspension, etc...
It's tough to say which is a drivers car. The RS will be more exotic and is tough to beat but from a practical standpoint, the .2 might be a better DD/second car.

Agree with Alex and Wyatth. Go with 997.2 GT3 if DD but be prepare for a hefty depreciation after couple years of ownership. RS will be a great buy in a year or two and it will be a great collector car down the road. Oh, take it to the track .... that's where it belongs

With all due respect, E-man you indicated that it would be a car you would want to drive. Whilst everybody is correct that the RS is more likely to be a classic and worth more in the future, for these exact reasons, you are likely to drive it less and not enjoy it as much...
The gt3.2 may depreciate faster and may not become a classic BUT it'll be faster, it'll be more user friendly as a DD drive especially with noselift etc and you'll get far more of the use you intend with one...

Just realize that a number of the great features on the new GT3.2 are expensive options, and don't come standard on the base model.
I have never been a car collector, life seems too short to buy and keep a rare car to catch a high price at later resale. With the drop in GT3RS prices, I would buy a 'preowned' one - however you have to feel comfortable with a mostly track-oriented car as a daily driver. I can't comment on the daily driver nature of GT3.2, as I have never driven one...

If you're to drive it a lot and it will rarely if ever see the track, I'd say with out a doubt go with the mk2 997 GT3. With the ability to lift the front end at the touch of a button it is by far more street friendly. Myself, I'd go with the RS, but I'd track it a lot. Godd luck with the decision, b/c honestly you can't go wrong with either.
