GT3 RS Suspension available

Just noticed that Gert @ Carnewal has the RS suspension package that includes front&rear wheel carriers, associated control arms, supports, bearings, springs, shocks and cooling ducts for approx $7,400 after Euro conversion...I though it would cost more than that...hmmmm

I saw that too! This upgrade with the Flywheel and Wing get you all the performance differences of the RS (I think). I hate the RS wheels and graphics, but I was thinking of doing a modified RS conversion. Suspension, Flywheel, cage, wing, seats (of course) and for me just the RS steering wheel as I already have the CF shifter and brake which I prefer. It would be a stealth RS!!!

Anyone in for a group buy? Any suggestions who to use on the install?

As nice as it would be to install that suspension, unless you track a lot...I don't think it's worth it. The stock suspension is great as it is and I would imagine much more road compliant than the RS one. You really can't be driving fast enough on the road for the most part to take advantage of the RS stiffer setup...

for example:

Being responsible by assuming their could be oncoming traffic in the opposite lane when entering a corner...For me, slow into the corner then fast out is my preference for performance road driving on the twisties...at least when you go in slow, you have a better chance to see oncoming traffic prior to making the decision to step on it. If the coast is clear...yeeha!!!

The stock out of the box GT3 suspension is excellent for street and track use, for experienced GT3 track drivers who are driving the car at a high level the RS upgrade is a great consideration.

The RS suspension will allow you to be fast-in/fast-out while staying in your lane...

True, but what if someone happens to be in YOUR lane. Fast in means less reaction time to avoid collision. Call me defensive on the roads. Obviously, on the track your talking the "Holy Grail"!

I would use it mostly on the track and for open road races. Why would Motons be better? Please explain.

I read in Excellenge that the "Lizard driver" although he liked teh stock GT 3 suspension prefered the RS suspension and believed that it was perfect. I believe he was talking about road and track purposes.

No group buy then?

Motons are shocks. A suspension setup comprises of much more than shocks. Gert's retrofit has 48 factory pieces to it.

Obviously the RS suspension retrofit with Motons would be a superior solution, but a stock GT3 suspension with Moton may not be enough to make it better than a GT3-RS;

Yes, in the canyons, this will make you faster in and faster out while staying in your lane, and even faster in/out should you be ballsy enough to use both lanes!!!

This is probably the best upgrade for the GT3 yet.

The stock setup provides that just fine.

I don't think that would be of interest to the distributor, Carnewal. Maybe we could get a little off with a number of committed orders, but in the whole grand scheme of things, what's a couple hundred bucks between friends???

Rockit,

I think this maight be incorrect. I read yesterday, in either Excellence (with the 4 generations of RS feature) or 911 & Porsche World, that the RS suspension is very compliant on the road and actually better over rough spots/uneven pavement than the standard GT3 (it has progressive rate springs vs. linear, etc.). At the same time, it allows for much more adjustability at the track. If you get a chance, check out the articles.

You need to watch the BBC Top Gear comparison between the GT3 RS and the F360 Challenge Stradale.

Jeremy says the ride of the GT3 RS is so bad it would be more comfortable to be towed behind the car on his face (he's talking in relation to normal road use)

For anyone who hasn't seen it its a great 8 minute peice.

The standard GT3 suspension can be adjusted for camber, caster, toe, ride height and 4 sway bar settings, front & rear. How much more is there?
