GT3 market

Anyone have a good feel for what 997 GT3's are going for these days? With updated version coming out how much of a hit will prices take? Thanks

Cars at 80k are finding it hard to find a buyer, so it looks like 75k might be more realistic in this market. The MK2 will only hurt the mk1 and perhaps the RS as the 3.8 might be faster.

It's amazing at how much and how quickly the prices have tanked over the past 6 months or so.

also, it seems as though there are not as many cars for sale as there were 6 months ago. Do you think these cars were sold or sellers are holding on to them?

If you look at the general economic climate of the last 6 months, the market price simply mirrors that. Cars over 100k are not moving. F cars are tanking big time and the mk2 didn't help matters. Perhaps the next GT3 could have had the 3.8 in the 998 package, but Porsche felt it couldn't wait.

For those that have the cash, this is a great time to buy because EVERYTHING is on sale. sign of the times.

The reason it seems there are less GT3 for sale now then 6 months ago is the price. This meaning as the prices have tanked, most owners would prefer keeping the GT3 before giving it away.
Having hope that the economy makes a turn is another bit of wishful thinking.
I just sold my GT3 for a reasonable price but would have kept it before selling for $80K.

In the grand scheme of things the GT3 is actually holding value pretty well. At least for those who bought at reasonable MSRP's (sub 110k-115k). To sell in the 80s after a year or two is not bad at all, but not typical GT3 form. Everything is taking a lashing right now. EVERYTHING, and compared to other cars in the price range that aren't new vehicles altogether, it's really not that bad.

If you put more miles on your car and sell for 75k, that's still not excrutiating like selling an M5 that cost 100k for 45k, that is, unless you paid 120k for your GT3.

keep in mind that asking prices on ebay, cars.com ... ect is completely different then the actual selling prices.

Gicent,

Momentum BMW in Texas has a white 2007 GT3 with ~19000 miles for under 73k, and that is the asking price.

Thanks. Seems like a lot of miles but I'll check it out. I don't believe that this is listed on edmunds or autotrader should I be checking other sites?

Fairly general inquiry. Much to consider when answering your question such as, Berlinetta, Spider, F1, gated, condition, mileage, service history, options.

Probably 120K to 145K considering the above variations.

keep the 996

keep yor 996 gt3, they are all going to end up worth the same, and you will still have a nice track car without all the added stuff you would rather not have.
