How to tie car down on trailer?

I have done this periodically with my RS for long trips, and inevitably it seems to lead to a wheel alignment when I get back from the trip, which is not good. I tie the car down by the wheels..(see below). Does anyone know if there is any alternative?

I seem to remember there being a product either from Dasport or Renntech for body tow-hooks. Someone attached them to a GT3 about 4 months ago.

Whenever I trailer my Carrera I use wheel webs that strap down the whole wheel instead of just strapping a single point as seen in the pix. That very well could be ur reason for alignments every time.

I have Rennline tie downs for my 997C2S, they work really well. I leave them on when on the track.

e-track is the best system. Like http://www.macscustomtiedowns.com/product/214/WheelNets but instead of fixed tie-down rings use e-track.

Hmmm....crossing your rear wheel straps like that is probably putting lots of strain on your rear toe settings. Try strapping them straight back. If you want to cross your straps then try those rear brackets Rennline sells.

Good luck!

I saw your post last year about your transporting the car to Germany. I wasn't so lucky, I had to settle for renting an 08 Cayman S and driving the ring with that...what a thrill.

The way you have tied on will pull out of alignment. I prefer a method I use either on trailer or in truck.
I use 4 primary straps -- they are good quality webbing ,approx 25mm (1") wide . Thru the wheels spokes and directly back & forward. Do not over ratchet-- firm is adequete .It is better still if you can use Cup type wheel hooks.
This stops car moving fore & aft --and sideways(it would have to make tighter to move)
None of this stops tieing down in other places eg toe hooks.

Tie Down a car

Does anyone know how Porsche ties down the cars when they are being shipped from the factory in trucks?

Cross tying wheels is a bad idea as it will create positive camber. If you choose this method pull straight and never run the straps around the tierod ends. I usually fabricate hooks on the chassis and pull at a small angle that way.
