CGT Oil Change
This text was posted on Ferrarichat. Anyone here have any comment?
"Porsche out does Ferrari!
Well, I knew that with this title, the thread would get a lot of looks
But I'm not interested in being flamed. This concerns repair costs. I was talking to the Porsche Service Manager today and he mentioned that they were starting to get a few Carerra GT’s in for oil changes and scrapped front ends- that car is LOW.
An oil change is easily over a grand. It turns out that to get to the oil pan you need to unscrew 128 screws of different sizes, so each one needs to be color coded by the Service Tech.
To replace the front underside clip will cost an owner a cool 40K-when the part comes, which will be in about 18-24 months.
Don’t know if these stories are true but this is a major dealer whose Service Manager usually is a straight on guy.
If so, I would say that Porsche has out-Ferrari’d Ferrari when it comes to maintenance."

My Porsche dealer's shop foreman told me the dealership had to buy tens of thousands of dollars of special tools and send 1 or 2 techs for training in Geogia in order to sell/service the C-GT.

don't get me wrong though, i love the CGT to death but i just don't trust the dealers here servicing the car.

Why would the underside clip need to be replaced? Do you mean if damaged? If so, is it easy for it to be damaged because of the height of the car?
Curious.

Yes i was told the same thing. my point is CGT was designed as a race car & it needs a professional crew to service the car. i don't think a short program to train 1 or 2 techs per dealer is simply enough. Porsche will even fly a tech from Germany to fix the car if the problem can't be solved. however, all that saying is that if u don't have a experienced people to work on ur $400,000 car will u be pissed?

At that point, it's Auto Mechanics 101 to turn some wrenches to R&R something-whether it's an Enzo or a Chevy truck.

let's leave Ferrari out of this discussion.
again, my point is, since they are ''race designed'' street car people sould look at them at different perspective. that's all!
therefore, for people who have the $ to buy the car should understand the concept of the car. for the people who can't afford it shouldn't ***** about it.

fyi,
Dealers are trained and approved at different levels of repair. Check with your dealer to find their level.
All tools needed to support that service level have been auto shipped to the dealer.
At least 1 tech has been trained on the vehicle and with the tools at any servicing dealer.
