[PICS] 997 gt3 super light
#47
350lbs over a GT3? or an average 997? sorry just clarification.... so how much does this car weigh? your car has lost alot of weight, but as far as I can tell it doesn't look unbearable for a sunday drive... Love it! hope to see new goodies soon!

Let's start with my new ordered GT3:
2008 Porsche GT3 in Carerra White, base carbon package, Guards Red belts, and floor mats. Nothing here added weight.
With this configuration, my GT3 weighed 3,180 lbs stock with all the necessary fluids and about 3 gallons of gas
When I get home, I will look for "The List" and post on this same post any mods that I have done and the weight savings

I like it a lot, but I would have installed a Porsche rollbar painted white.
Seriously, there is no way that car lost 400 lbs, despite of the sunroof delete work done.
The real number is closer to 250 lbs, and it assumes that the battery was replaced with a lighter one, the side air bags were not removed, the A/C is still in the car, the stock flywheel is there and the bumper frames are still in the car.
I have the weight of each piece of carpet, airbags, door panels, trunk components, body panels (doors, bumpers, fenders), deck lid, wheels, tires, wing, for both the 2004 GT3 and 2007 GT3 RS. Things don't add up to 400 lbs with this 997 GT3.
-48 lbs removing all the carpets, rear window trim panels, and rear side panels including rear speakers (12 lbs, 12 lbs, 4 lbs, 2.5 lbs, 1.5 lbs, 8 lbs, 8 lbs)
-5 lbs removing all the mats
-40 lbs with the sunroof delete
-6 lbs removing the roof liner and rear c-pillar covers
-19 lbs from a naked trunk, removing tools, carpets, and all the plastic covers
-26 lbs replacing the stock 43 lbs battery, with an Odyssey PC680 plus billet mounts (15 lbs + 2 lbs)
-20 lbs with 9"/12" x18" CCW C-14 vs. stock 19" bricks
-9 lbs using the 997 RS deck lid and carbon wing
-8 lbs replacing the steering wheel
-54 lbs using the 996 GT3 fabric seats (26 lbs each). Stock 997 seats are 50 lbs on the driver's side and 56 lbs on the passenger's side (due to weight sensor for front airbags).
-9 lbs from an empty windshield washer reservoir
-44 lbs side mufflers delete
-10 lbs center muffler delete replaced with straight pipes from the cats
Now the weight adders:
+18 lbs using 245/40 and 315/30 x 18 Toyo R888
+12 lbs on a harness bar
+10 lbs on the fire extinguisher and mount
+6 lbs on the Schroth harnesses
Total estimated weight saved: 252 lbs. Given that the car has PCCB (-42 lbs in the 2007 GT3):
Dry weight (no fuel): 2,896 lbs
Weight with a full tank of fuel: 3,007 lbs
This car should feel like it gained close to 40 Hp, assuming it did not gain power from the exhaust changes, but it probably gained some. It must be a blast to drive.

This is a similar direction I plan on going with my 997, actually after viewing this thread earlier at work I came home and removed my back seats haha. Beautiful car 997gt3nm! Sorry if you covered this earlier, but I didn't read through all four pages, but did you do the removal of the carper yourself?

18" wheels have been on 997 GT3/GT3 RS and GT2 with PCCB for years. Not all 18" wheels would clear. All the CCW 1-piece wheels work.
