I came across this forum while searching the web for info on the Volans Leader. I am awaiting the arrival of my 2010 Mercedes which is also aboard and have been tracking the ship for a couple of weeks now. I thought I’d give you a quick update on where our cars are. Below is a link to a webcam picture I took Saturday afternoon of the Volans Leader as it passed through the Panama Canal. The ship cruises at 17kts which means it would have passed by Acapulco this afternoon. Its next stop is Long Beach where they will unload Mercedes on the 20th. It is scheduled to be in San Diego on the 21st.

Bad news.

My sales guy just called and said their Porsche rep just informed them that 2010 GT3s can NOT be sold until Porsche USA officially releases the 2010 cars. He had no date as of yet.

What news are you getting from your sales guys?

Yes, that is what my sales told me also. My car is in Halifax right now waiting for Porsche to release this to public. My rep told me I should have it by end of July.

 

My dealer has told me the same thing. He's saying that the regional PCNA rep has indicated it will likely be September. While that might make sense for all other 911 models given the existing inventories of 2009's still on the lots; it makes no sense to me to hold GT3's. I've also read on another forum that the 2010 GT3's will be released earlier than the other models.

 

my sales guy and i are planning on delivery no later than the first week of august. with the boat docking in san diego on 7/21, it makes no sense to hold them in place for months.
my last purchase was an early build 07 turbo. build date 7/31, delivery date 9/14, the stated 6 week delivery timeframe. so, with a 6/17 completion, we expect 8/1 or so.

remember, pcna released the early build cars to the dealers to sell, not rot in a parking lot allowing buyers a chance to change their minds. if pcna did not want to let them be sold, they surely would not have given the dealers the allocations.

cars are off-loading in san diego as we speak. ship arrived at 0200 this morning and will be departing, less a few gt3's, at 1600 this afternoon. more to come, and soon i hope.
i just e-mailed my sales guy to verify delivery data, i wil post whatever he says. to date no bad news from pcna regarding delayed delivery though. we'll see.

 

When I took delivery of my 07 997TT, I received it at Circle Porsche in Long Beach the same day it was offloaded from the ship. It *can* happen that fast. My E46 M3 sat there for a week so you never really know how long this part of the process is going to take.

 

my guy just got back to me, said he would do all to facilitate asap. no mention of hold from pcna as others have posted. beverly hills is the second largest volume porsche dealer in us, so i am hoping he would know.
i am dying here. need gt3, need gt3...

 

My sales rep just got back to me also. My car will be shipping to Toronto in next 3-4 days and I should have mine early next wk. Also, I am prep-ing this GT3 for Track day on Aug 3 in Mosport. :P

 

Has anyone gotten a car or at least a delivery date yet?
