Baseline tire pressures for Corsa Rs

I will be running the Corsa R compound tire for the first time this weekend at the track. Could someone give me some baseline cold temps to start with. Also, if you have baseline hot temps that would be helpful too.

Aslo... Do you guys run the Corsas shaved? Or unshaven. Hopefully I can run them unshaven because I don't think I have enough time to get them shaved before hand.

I'm not worried about a few tenths. It's just going to be a relaxing day at the track, exercising the GT3 at about 9.5/10ths in a safe environment. I won't be pushing the car all that hard. So, the tires won't be under particularly harsh use conditions.

The racecar (M3) is still in a slight state of disassembly as we endeavor to remove more weight and paint the new carbon fiber replacement panels for the doors, rear deck and hood. So, it's the GT3s turn to take to the track.

Thanks in advance!

Dont shave the tyres, there is no need.

Aim for 2.1 Bar hot, I have experimented with various pressure over the last year but this seems to give the best results with my set up.

Let me know how you get on.

Pirelli Corsas -- Recommended hot pressures for the 996 -- 30 front, 32 rear.

Ideal hot tire tremp is 185 degrees F. Max. is 200 degrees.

Experiment a bit using the above as a general guide.

I drove on Corsa R's at Spa, chunked the hell out of them within 4 laps, with correct pressures! My friend did the same thing an hour later during testing. Luv those Michelin Cups!-Mark

i too have experienced lots of separation with corsa r's after just a few heat cycles, although i should add they were front wheel outer issues only, and that i have a fat pig 4wd turbo and not your nimble ride.

Mr. RS - Is the 30/32 tire pressure hot or cold?

Aracerx - Did you chunk the fronts or rears? I assume the fronts...

Thanks all for the suggestions.

If you want the profeesional way of working out tyre pressure try this.

Run the car for 5 laps, come in and check pressure. let air out of the tyre until it is at 2.1bar. Go out again for another 5 laps and recheck tyre pressure.

Repeat until you no longer need to release air from the tyre.

Then do 5 laps come in and check the tyre temprature (you will need a pyrometer for this) you are aiming to get a 5 degree spread from the inside of the tyre to the outside. If there is a great differance you will need to adjust the suspension until you get a uniform reading across the tyre with the inner edge being 5 degrees hotter than the outside.

This is a complete pain in the **** and the suspension set up will differ with every circuit but it will give you the correct set up for the day and track.

Just do what normal people do, get a good set up and run it at 2.1 bar hot!!!

Enjoy your event, look forward to hearing about it.

Awesome. Thanks!

I do the professional gig when racing. But, for this weekend, it's purely fun. So, 2.1 bar hot it is.

Also, thanks to you for your replies Jack!

This should be a fun day.

FWIW, I also ended up buying a set of ROH wheels. Initially I bought them for the track tires. Then when I saw how good they looked, I decided to use the stock wheels for track events instead. Will post pics soon.

Also should be getting the Europipe exhaust on next week. That will be it for mods, unless someone comes out with an intake that does wonders for the car.
