The GT3 is a far more rewarding car to drive hard and has higher limits... At those limits, it takes more skill from the driver to tame the GT3.. The Audi just ends up ploughing it's front end until it recovers from whatever went wrong..

Both the GT3 and the Z06 can bite you VERY hard if you screw up.. The Audi is the opposite.. you can get away with murder in that car, but again, it's just not rewarding enough for me at the edge of it's performance envelope. Also, tha Audi feels a lot slower than it's performance figures would indicate.

IN terms of Laptimes, I would think that the GT3 and Z06 would be 1 - 3 seconds a lap quicker than the Audi at Sears/Infineon given that the tires were the same on all cars. Obviously, if one car has Hoosier R6's and the others have street tires, the one on the R6's will be 3 -4 seconds a lap faster.
Do you prefer the Vette or the GT3?

GT3...

The Vette is great up to 90%, but gets REALLY nervous and the rear end starts to misbehave.. It can be cured with different shocks, but then again, why spend $4k to get what should have been done properly in the first place fixed? There is not enough rear rebound damping in the Vette's shocks, so the rear end will hop badly, especially when encountering mid-corner bumps. The 'Vette also has very soft bushings in the rear end and that causes excessive motion and unwanted movement in all the suspension components.. the rear end will spread badly under hard braking (turn 11 at Infineon/Sears is particularly heinous in the 'Vette)..

Ok, thanks for the insight.

The R8 is great car for a car that hasn`t got a history or much time to grow like the 911 had.
u could compare an R8 to a 997C4S but no way to a GT3.

The R8 is a daily driver par excellence. it is much more comfortable, the cabin delivers more room for the driver, it is much more relaxing if u are eating miles on highways etc. and also is easy to drive in all sorts of conditions 52 weeks a year, it is a stunning allrounder.

The GT3 is simply a race car with a licence plate. It is meant to be driven on the track, of course u can use it on a daily basis as well but that is clearly not its main territory. It is both very fast and extremely responsive, reacting with such immediacy to every input that it allows for instant connectivity between driver and asphalt. but as a daily driver this is also his biggest disadvantage on the other hand. the very stiff suspension and ultra-low-profile tires can very quickly make the ride uncomfortable on less than perfect roads.

so the question is, do it use it regularly on a track or not?
if so, GT3 hands down, if not, the R8 is a more than great alternative. it has got the looks of a supercar combined with finest german engineering.
