Question Share your experience with Traqmate in Street/Track GT3

Has anyone here installed a Traqmate data gathering system in their street GT3? I was wondering if it is truly a 15 minute install and whether it is intrusive for daily driving? Would you select this over other available products? Do you have the video that goes with it? And where did you secure it? I found the full system, with camera, for $2099. Is this about the average price, or do you know somewhere I can get it for less?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I am zero technical, but my Porsche shop told me that it is hard to install and with crappy manuals even harder to figure out how it all works.

Mine still does not work right in that the camera does not jump on once you pass start / finish on the track. There is an update for it but no one in SE Florida knows how to work on these things. Still I like the video / date result.

I have it in my DD GT3, works OK once you can figure it out and get it working right with a good traqmate experienced installer.

I have a mounting bracket that fits in the slot of the glove box lid and the dash for the display, the data unit is under the passenger seat and the camera recorder is on the centerconcole, so I can still reach it to turn on the camera. The camera itself is on the roll bar.
The GPS receiver is installed on the plastic between the windshield and the hood/trunk lid. Here is a link that shows the location of the display and camera recorder:

Thanks for the info. Awesome video, and love those long straights. Would you purchase again, or would you select another product?

I'll check to see if their is a knowledgeable installer in my area. Looks like it provides some good quality info. Thanks again.

I would only buy it again if I bought it through an installer who has done it before on a GT3 and who will spend a few hours with you to show how it all works.

I am not at all technical, but after 30 minutes I figured this was hard to figure out, so I reserved an entire day to read everything and make it work and was still frustrated after an entire day because of the ****ty manuals and the counter intuitive software, but if you spend time with someone who can tell and / or confirm what does what you will be on your way in an hour or 2.

Awseome video.

A question: how the system is receiving RPM and gear information ?

Interesting. I like the Micro Pod Lite or Sport. I wonder if anyone has experience with these. Does the 2004 Porsche GT3 have an OBDII CAN port? If so, the Micro Pod Sport would be an easy hookup.

Interesting device, sure, but gloves and touch screen is a bad combination, at least on iPhone race apps.

Another option to look at>

http://www.race-keeper.com/

Video & data all together.
Pull the USB key out and analyze your data instantly w/video.
Do another session, compare outings instantly

Have you ever used or looked at the Traqmate? How does it compare to Race-Keeper? I looked at the site, and it looks as though they offer the same information, and the complete kit is about $200 less. Was it an easy install, or did you have it done?

Thanks for the input.

It appears that you must purchase the OBDII Interface to obtain the RPM's and Speed with the Race-Keeper. That' an additional $225, so there really is no savings, if the assumption is correct. However, the Traqmate does not even offer OBDII. Now I'm curious as to which is better, Traqmate or Race-Keeper. The Race-Keeper does have the Porsche Sport Driving School endorsement. At this point, I'm now actually leaning toward Race-Keeper as there are much more capabilities with add-on components. Does anyone have a preference, that has knowledge or experience with both? And, I wonder if we could develop a group purchase, assuming others are interested and it can be arranged?

Download the demo versions of both and see which one works best for you.

If I am correct the video and data must be merged w/ Traqmate.

With Race-keeper it's right there...no post processing required.

I like the ease of use with RK.
For me the TM data interface is abit klunky.

Finish your session put USB key into your computer, your set to analyze...or compare.
Here are a couple of screen shots
