New Orleans Dealer Set To Close
Got a call from me salesmen at the New Orleans Porsche dealer the they (Tom Benson ownes the dealership and the Saints football team) will be closing. My understanding is he (Tom Benson) has surrendered the dealership and wished to close.
So were do that leave me you say? My salesman "transferred" my order to my local dealership here in Baton Rouge were I live. Looks like things are still on time for a 10/13 finish production date. I guess we will see what happens.
Sucks for all the guys at the dealer in New Orleans. The only good thing is Tom Benson owns 20+ dealerships across the U.S. (many in New Orleans and San Antonio) for some of the people to move to if they wish.
So that's it I guess, keep you posted.

She is very much clueless based on what my salesman said. I don't think my salesmen would give up his deal and pass a car over to an other dealer on a joke.
We will see.

Not doubting you because I called wanting to pick up their left over inventory. Left a message with a Mr. Stuben or something like that. If I'm successful I'd like to give you a little something for making it happen for me!

I also visited with Walter and he says he was as surprised as anyone by the change. He does say there is a lot of interest among other dealers in the city and the expectation is that the Porsche franchise would be picked up fairly soon. For now they will continue to do non-warranty service work since the Porsche techs are still around, but most likely they would eventually move to any new franchise location.
Benson used to sell Porsche & Audi out of the same dealership. They got rid of the Audi franchise earlier this year and replaced it with a Smart Car franchise. Go figure. Probably a hint of things to come. But the Audi franchise was picked up immediately by another dealer in the city. Hopefully, Porsche will also continue to maintain a presence.
