Darn -- now I'm considering a new GT3

Awwww, she's gorgeous. Enjoy in good health. Sure will be a different ride/heavier clutch than your 650TT. May be (relatively) lacking in power, but the 'rawness' of the 3 will keep you smiling for a while. Let us know your impressions!

Just curious, what makes the 2010 a lot better car? I agree, if I was in a place between deciding on a new .2 versus a used .1, I'd definitely go w/ a new 10. But ...
It might be fair to say the next platform GT3 (998?) will be a much better car (remains to be seen) -- and that's the car I'm waiting for -- but aside from the PSM which would be nice to have as a safety net, is the 997.2 that much better? Don't get me wrong, I'm not some sour 997.1 owner looking for a reason trying to convince myself the new cars somehow not really better like you always see on the forums (e.g., 996.1 vs 996.2, vs 997.1, etc.). If the 997.2 really is a "lot better" car, I'll probably go for it but I not convinced yet.
- 3.8L yes, but at 435hp we're only talking about a 5% increase in hp. That's not enough of an increase to get excited about IMO.
- Downforce vs. zero downforce car. That's pretty cool but it comes at the cost of that Mini-Me spoiler. Fugly. If I'm going to have a spoiler of that design, just give me the real deal like on the RS and let's be done with it. The new spoiler reminds me of the H2/H3 owners driving around thinking/wishing they were driving a real HUMMER.
- PSM. Gotta admit, I wish I had it. That's the most compelling feature for me.
- Center-lock wheels. Pretty gimmicky, IMO, but whatever.
Anything else that's big? Please help. Wanting to be convinced the .2 is that much better so I don't have to wait another 3 years to get a new car!

Oh, btw, not intending to slam on the new 997.2 in case it sounds that way ... I'd rather have it than my 997.1 if it didn't cost me $50k to trade-up. Just want to be clear about that Beautiful car. Congrats!!!!

I think you make valid points. I too would not trade up from a 997.1 for $50K. But of course when you are ready to trade up for the 998, you'll probably be looking closer to $70Kish -- given standard depreciation plus accelerated with the new model. But, by that time, I suspect it will be worth it to you.

Add, PSM, downforce, CLs, PADM, bigger, better, lighter brakes, slightly better interior, more Alcantara when ordering full leather, countless suspension improvements, rear brake venting and the exterior features which I really dig.
Worth $50k more, maybe not, but that's sometimes the case when trading any Porsche for the next best flavor.

I will be sure to provide a detailed analysis of 997.2 GT3 vs. 997.1 turbo. Clearly these are like comparing apples to oranges, but frankly, I wish I had more seriously considered the GT3 over the turbo in the first place.
Then again, I still have yet to drive a GT3 -- so we'll see
