+1.

This thread made me go back and add up all the receipts in 2008 year and comes out little over $15k. I did 4 time trial events and 12 DEs (some of them are 1 day events and some are 3). $15k a year is pretty average and good number. Possibly few thousands more for 2010 GT3 since it's newer and 19" tires are more expensive? Yea... do you really have to bring this up??? LOL!

Thanks for all the posts. I didn't know it costs that much to track a car. I will stay with AutoX for a little while.

Then driving a Cup car is not that expensive ! After 35 track days this summer I am still on the same rear original rotors and I just changed the front ones recently. Used 6 front P50 pads and 3 rears. But... the faster you go the lesser heat cycles number you can get from the tires. I could do 20 heat cycles at the beginning of the season when I was learning the new car and I can do 10 HC maximum now... and really there is no good grip after 5-6 HC. I lost track of how many set of tires I bought this summer !

main item - new GT3 engine is $45K.
re-manufactured M96 3.6L engine is $8.5K

How much less does a Cup car weigh than a GT3? That could account for how much longer your brakes last, if the weight savings are fairly substantial.

Roughly 600lbs less... but I remember that I was actually spending more pads and rotors with my GT3 when I was going not as fast. There are turns which I used to brake coming in and which I take at full throttle now !

Sure... and a rebuilded 4 cylinders honda is even less

those DAYS are 2-2.5 hours of driving.
now i race, i get 70-80 min per DAY.
and i really OVERUSE my brakes. i was told i lose 2-3 seconds on that issue alone ;-)

and even if i dont want want one or can't afford one, i really dont have anywhere to go except cup after 11 GT3's, a spec boxster race car and a stripped lwt GT3..... seems like i HAVE to buy a cup

gas costs is standard at 9 miles per gallon on track speeds. I've only used up 50% of first set rear pads and 30% of front pads after 12 track days. My stock Pirelli Corsa OEM are about 20% worn (4500 combined miles). So my consumables are so far way less than what's quoted by others. However, I can't say I was trying to go as fast as possible since I believe in slowly getting up to the limits of the car. Car is 10GT3 with PCCB and 100% stock.
