To tint windows or not to tint windows on a Black GT3 MK2??

Hey guys....I started thinking about this topic since it's a boring rainy day in the SF bay area. Its not a performance mod, but was wondering if you were me would you consider tinting your windows if you had a black car?

On all my cars that I've had I've never tinted the windows just to keep a really clean look. But considering this is my first black car I wanted to get some feedback. I posted 2 pictures here: one of mine taken without tint and my buddies MK1 with tinted windows.

FYI: Ironically the 2 pics were taking coincidentally at Santana Row on different occasions almost in the same parking space.

A black porsche with black tint is always fly. My 997 is black with black wheels and 20% tint, and it looks great when it is clean. Very gangster.

I have 35% all around and 75% on my windshield and honestly I don't really like it anymore. I have been thinking about getting it redone to just have 50% or 75%. I have had 35% tint on all my cars but this is my first black car with black wheels too and its just to much black for me. I think if you do decide to tint don't go any darker than 50%.

I've had tint on every car I'v owned. Love it. Helps keep the interior cooler during warm days as well.

Interesting feedback so far guys. I was thinking of going with something subtle like 20% all around minus the windshield since its totally illegal in Cali.

Eventually want to track or autocross one day. That was the whole point when I bought it. If I wanted a Grand Touring car I would have picked up the Turbo with all its creature comforts. This car is meant to be tracked IMO

I don't think 20% is very subtle at all. I have a hard time seeing at night with 35% Going in reverse in an unlit area you are almost blind. Like I said before if I could do it all over I would have gone with 50% and no windshield tint. Another reason I don't like mine as dark as they are is because of police. I have gotten plenty of tint tickets in my previous cars and its just starting to get annoying. Also another thing about tint, every time I have been pulled over for it and the officers have gotten out their little tint meters, my cars windows have always register below what I bought. For example I was pulled over on a day where the weather happened to be light overcast so really you couldn't even see the sun and when the officer went to measure my tint the reading came out to be 28% A lot lower than 35%!

I might have gotten the numbers mixed up. I should have said as minimal tint as possible but subtle enough to match with the car and have some pleasing aesthetics. By far I am staying away from the limo tint look.

in a perfect world, no tint. but if you value your privacy, get a moderate tint, whatever is legal.

tint is more about function than what it may make the car look like for me

Yeah, 20% is basically limo tint; very, very dark.

I had 65% on my side glass and 50% on the rear as the rear lets in more sun. It balanced very nicely. That was on a silver 997 turbo w/bk. interior. I would go no more that the above scenario and even 65% -75% all around. The number pertains to the percentage of light the tint allows to pass through.

I like a little contrast between the glass (if tinted) and the paint. You should be able to see inside the car upon closer look. Some states (NY) allows any darkness you want in the rear as long as the car has two side mirrors.

I have a white GT3 coming, but I am keeping it stock.

Its a simple mistake that I've heard plenty of times, but it sounds like you would be happy with 50-75% Be sure to post pics once you get it done because it will be a very large deciding factor as to whether or not I take my 35% off.
