996 GT3 mkII vs 996 GT3 RS

Is there any straight line performance differences between these two cars? As i understand it, the only mechanical difference is that the RS has a lightweight flywheel. The only other difference that i am aware of that could affect straight line performance is that the RS is 20kg's lighter (which is not all the much...?)

The reason i am interested in this is that i have a 996 mkII with the RS flywheel, and was wondering how i would fare in a straight line vs the RS.

Furthermore, are there any other differences between the two cars? I believe the suspension geometry and height are different in the RS? I would imagine the gear ratios are the same?

Thanks in advance for any insights.

Are you comparing a straight 996 to the rs or a gt3 to the rs?

The RS also has an intake scoop. I thought I read somewhere that the CS & RS receive the motors that are slightly higher output due to build tolerances.

Wow, that is very interesting regarding the RS and CS models getting stronger engines.

What exactly do you mean by "build tolerances"?

Can anyone verify this?

In the past

When Porsche built an engine and everything "clicked" they would notice a significant power difference despite the fact that the parts were the same. These special engine were often set aside for special installations.

Additionally, when an engine is assembled, it might get groups of pistons, rods, etc. that were slightly lighter, slightly better balanced, etc. and these components may have been set aside for special cars.

I heard that RS got the pick of the slightly more powerful engines, but have never heard that about CS. I would think we're talking pretty small tolerances on 'modern', handbuilt engines here though, and the fractional power difference may even up over time as the engines get more fully bedded after the initial bench run in (depending on use).

its probably like how Lamborghini choose the best build engines for the Reventon and left the rest for the LP640, I believe Nissan do the same for the standard GTR and Spec V.
