6gt2 or 7gt3?
This is a cross post, just looking for opinions (experience with both particularly appreciated).
Time for a fun Porsche track car again. I've got 12 years of tracking and racing experience including a couple track years in very high HP 930s, so I'm not scared of mid corner boost. I love a good hit on the boost bong, but I also really hammer a car hard on the track (I like to turn it up to 11). I went through a set of pagid pads in my 08 M3 in a day and a half at VIR on street tires.
So I'm torn between a 996GT2 and a 997GT3.
6GT2 pluses:
1) boost
2) slightly better entry costs (I'd probaly feel a little more rational about hammering a $60k or so car vs a $90k car)
3) easy mods
7GT3 pluses:
1) better looks (my opinion)
2) more precise handling
3) probably more track durable
So how does the 6GT2/9TT hold up to a long, hot day at the track of lap after lap of full boost?
This car is 85% track but would still have to be marginally streetable. I know I'll love the precision of the GT3 but probably miss that sweet torque hit on the back straight.
Anyone know rough respective lap times at VIR (my local track)? Thanks fellas. Happy new year.
