09 C2S or 2010 GT3?
2010 GT3 with minimal off sticker.....no track....street only.....I like the sound, power, and wow factor of the GT3.
OR
09 C2S with at least 20K off MSRP with NO sport Chrono. 2 dealers have told me that's (no sport chrono) is a bad thing for resale.
again, not going to the track. Both are color I like .......if I can afford it....GT3?

My short answer will always be GT3.
But knowing that you will not track it, and good discount on C2S, I will have to pick the C2S for you.
If the car is 6 speed manual, then doesn't matter about the sport chrono.
If PDK, then sport chrono plus is a must.

For me there was never an option... In my mind they are different cars all together. It really depends what you want in a car, the GT3 never lets you forget you are in a great racing thoroughbred, 100 miles and you know it. The C2S offers comfort and great performance, but it’s not as raw as the GT3. Like I said, depends what you are looking for.

Do a search and find my posts about how I gladly gave up my 07 GT3 in favor of my 09 C2S with Sport PASM (No Sport Chrono). And I'm a track nut. The C2S is that good while still being a great street car that doesn't scrape on every driveway I enter.

If you're ready for a GT3 and you want one, go for it. You really don't need a reason to support this decision other than your wallet.
I started with a 997S, then upgraded to a club coupe. Drove both on the track and honestly I do not think I can reach the limit of either cars. I definitely will not reach the limit of them on the street either.
However I know I will eventually have a GT3 in my garage. It is not why, but when.
I was lucky to get an allocation for a RS, I find no reason to decline...as my wallet said yes...

Thanks Targa Tim. That helps....kind of. Both great cars. Plenty of performance. I guess it just depends on how important having a GT3 is and if you can be comfortable justifying the $$ to yourself. The test drive of the C2S was awesome. The test drive of the GT3 was beyond words and in another galaxy.
Today is decision time......or the GT3 will be gone.....
thanks for everyone who took the time to weigh in...

Personally I would take the GT3 - if I had test driven both the Gt3 would have won.
Not that I have any regrets with my choice - but they really are different animals all together. The rawness and racyness of the Gt3 or the comfort and sportiness of the C2S.
You could take both to the track or never take either to the track and be just as happy.
Good luck in your choice, I don't think you can make a bad one here.

I'll throw my 2 cents in here as I have walked this path before and eventually ended up with the GT3, only after buying 2 C4s's and a '09 Turbo first. Virtually all of the offered opinions are very valid. Get the the GT3, if you don't like it it should be relatively easy to trade down vs trying to sell a C2 that has already been heavily discounted. Besides to be realistic if you go the other way you'll always wonder what it's like to own a GT3, trust me on that. Oh yeah I did keep the '09 Turbo, I'm not totally crazy. Either car will be a waste if you let them become Garage Queens, drive and enjoy them. Cheers, and good luck.

RT.....this one sunk in. Especially...."if you don't get one...you'll always wonder what it's like to own one." I love this website. Getting perspective from those who have done it. Consistently, the GT3 is the car that you guys love. What's also pushing me is that the car I want is configured VERY close to how I'd configure it if ordering one. Since the dealer is willing to discount as well.....guess the stars are aligning.
I'm pretty sure that's the direction I'm going in. BTW, Porsche pulled back the 10K rebate that they were giving to dealers to blow out the 09 911s. You can still get a good discount but not as good as before Jan 4.

a little more GT3 wisdom
Now that you may have been seduced to wander to the DARK side and get a GT3 there are several things that you should not only know but surely remember, 1 unwind the wheel in a turn prior to liberal amounts of throttle and 2. most GT#'s that sustain damage do so in the rear panels. Hope you catch my drift, pun intended. Be sure to send us pics.
