996 gt3rs or track car
#18
^ in this particular case, the guy has a race car or whatever and wants to know if the 996RS would be a nice addition... for occasional lapping days...
I think Luis is right in that a base GT3 that is already set up is probably a better value but this guy is set on RS... it is a sweet car.
How could you not like it?

Hi guys i was thinking of replacing the race car with a GT3 or GT3/RS so i can use it on both the road and track.
You lot though have brought a good point though i could get just the GT3 and spend the money saved on some proper dampers JRZ or Motons and a full light weight exhaust system.
What are the main differences between the RS and GT3 except for the body stuff is there different gearing. Are the roll bars the same and are the dampers/suspension set up on the RS adjustable.

Car will be fine, but consumable bills quite high. I'd try and find a modded car with decent dampers etc as they never get much value back at resale. Do some research on pistonheads if you want to read up on differences etc. Covered a million times over.
FWIW a track setup GT3 is quite hard work on the road. Its fine on A roads etc, but crapy b road and you'll probably be backing off because they don't like pot holes and bumpy English roads much.
