Can't decide on a car going insane.....

The GT3 is a special purpose machine. I think most GT3 owners already knew what kind of a car they were looking for and how they were going to use it, before they shopped for their GT3.
If we don't already knew, then the Turbo might be the answer.
I have seen some friends bought the GT3 not because they needed it but because they wanted it, and usually they sold it soon after.
Regards,

I had a similar problem; 996TT X50 versus 996 GT3. I ended up with an opportunity to drive both at the same dealer on the same day. Athought the TT was blazing quick (almost scarey fast), the driving was not much different than my 996 Carrera. When I drove the GT3 on the same route, it was grins all the way. It is just engaging to drive. It was fast, but linear and controllable (IMO) versus the rush of the TT. Bottom line, I got a 996 GT3 and just love it. Never looked back..

not sure why so many posts say if you are looking for straight line acceleration or drag racer skip the Gt3. Its over 400hp and runs high 11's. It will crush 99% of cars out there and is amazing when you mash it at high revs. Sure, its not the TT torque monster, but its no slug. I had a heavily modified TT before 2010 GT3, and don't miss it one bit. the new motor is simply amazing just as is. The people saying to but a 997.1 and save some cash haven't driven a .2, I can assure you.

I would do the sharkwerks conversion im just concerned if i had any sort of problem there all the way on the other coast in CA, while im in NY stuck with a broken car. Anyone on the east cost do something similar ?

You don't need to touch the engine. Sure the Sharkwerks conversion is a nice to have but by no mean is a must. Go test drive a GT3 and then you won't have any doubts anymore. All this discussion is a lost of your time until you have real seat time in a GT3.

I can tell you that some friends who swicthed from a 997.1 to a 997.2 didn't improve their lap time at all on our local race track... and were still way behind the more talented pilots in their 997.1 !

I bought a CPO 07 tt, all the right options. Took it to TPC in MD, they flashed it (514hp at rear wheel with perfectly flat torque curve) and put in modified bilstein damptronics, links, and bars. Pretty good compromise and good price as porsches go. My buddy had a RS and he trade up to a GT2. Not taking anything away, but I have more/better power, and a better street car for about half of what he paid (and a rear seat).
Head to head on a track I never saw a turbo, no matter how many mods were made to it, being faster than a GT3 in good hands.

My stock 2010 GT3 was dead even against a GTR w/ exhaust(I dont know what else it had) on a highway 3 horn run. I started to pull away after 120-130 mph.
And +2 on 997.1 Vs 997.2 statement. The stock 997.2 GT3 puts down at least 10 HP more throughout the whole RPM than fully modded 997.1 GT3's with full exhaust, software, filters, etc. At least mine does, I have the dyno sheets.

Back in 05 I had a very similar dilema. I test drove a 2004 turbo cab and an 04 GT3. Loved both for different reasons. Ultimatley I wanted to do DE's with the local PCA. I knew that the turbo was great in a straight line and lets face, still a great handling car. But not compared to the GT3.
I went with the GT3 and was totally psyched about the decision. Did about 8 track days with it and went on to get the RS. Again a great decsion. There are also lots of upgrades you can do to the GT3. Pretty tunable car......see Sharky!
Great car, especially a 2010. Good luck.

If you don't track it get the TT.
In cornerless, boring Florida, I would suggest en even more comfortable car with similar power.
For spirited driving on canyon roads and as a daily driver the TT is much more capable and comfortable car with the PDK than the GT3, a fast comfy Mercedes, Bently whatever is just boring.
If you track the car, there is only one car; The GT3!

Not from my experience. In a previous track day, the power difference between a 997.2 GT3 and a 997.1 GT3 was almost the same as the difference between a 997s and a 997.1 GT3, and thats a big difference.
