2010 RS titanium exhaust setup

There are alot of confusing information from Porsche regarding the 2010 RS titanium exhaust setup. Does it have titanium from header to the tail pipes or just the center muffler? Who supply the titanium exhaust?

To answer the first question, I contacted Ric at Suncoast Porsche and obtained parts numbers and price between Gen1 GT3/RS and Gen2 RS for comparison. Well, it turns out the price for everything except the center muffler and tips are the same. To add to this, I seen couple pictures of RS delivered to US and there are the titanium blue glow on the center muffler and no where else. The most logical conclusion is that 2010 RS have steel headers, cats and side mufflers and titanium is only found on center muffler and tips.

Please chime in if you see the titanium blue glow anywhere else.

GT3 – GEN 1 – Other pieces could be needed, but these are the main pieces:
1 997-113-021-91 CATALYST 1 1 1551.42 1551.42 S 4
2 997-113-022-91 CATALYST 1 1 1551.42 1551.42 S 4
3 997-111-336-90 SPHERICAL CLA 2 2 97.38 194.76 S 4
4 980-111-561-00 EXHAUST SEALI 2 2 11.33 22.66 S 4
5 997-111-047-90 FRONT MUFFLER 1 1 1791.36 1791.36 S 4
6 997-111-048-90 AS FRONT MUFF 1 1 1791.36 1791.36 S 4
7 997-111-027-90 REAR MUFFLER 1 1 1004.41 1004.41 S 4
8 997-111-253-90 EXHAUST TAILP 1 1 249.37 249.37 S 4

TOTAL $8156.76

GT3 RS 2010 – GEN2 - Other pieces could be needed, but these are the main pieces:
1 997-113-021-94 AS CATALYST 1 1 1551.42 1551.42 S 4
2 997-113-022-94 AS CATALYST 1 1 1551.42 1551.42 S 4
3 997-111-336-90 SPHERICAL CLA 2 2 97.38 194.76 S 4
4 980-111-561-00 EXHAUST SEALI 2 2 11.33 22.66 S 4
5 997-111-047-98 AS FRONT MUFF 1 1 1791.59 1791.59 S 4
6 997-111-048-98 AS FRONT MUFF 1 1 1791.59 1791.59 S 4
7 997-111-027-93 AS REAR MUFFL 1 1 2451.02 2451.02 S 4
8 997-111-253-93 EXHAUST TAILP 1 1 645.50 645.50 S 4

TOTAL $9999.96

The answer for the second question need more research but these titanium center muffler and tips are not made by Akrapovic as some have suggested. I included some pictures of the titanium center mufflers and tips found on the GT3 R below and I don't know if they are the predecessors of the ones found on 2010 RS. They are very crude and looks like pre-production mark up at best.

2010 RS owners, please show us pictures of production titanium center muffler and tips if you happen to have your rear bumper off for comparison

It is probably made by Boysen, like the center exhaust for the 997.2 turbo:

I can't see Posche go titanoum just for sound. Change steel muffler can easily alter the sound and less expensive

good post mike... actually already had a few guys with new RS' replace their center muffler (in Ti) with our center section and still come out ahead. Ours only weighs 5 pounds so... you're not adding any weight and then there's the sound

That is good to hear Alex! Since you had a good look at the 2010 RS can you confirm that only center muffler is titanium? Did you have a chance to weigh the titanium center muffler? Your center muffler bypass is super light and it's a win win mod every time!

Awesome. Take some picture and weigh the titanium center muffler and tips for us if you can. I have a feeling it's not that much lighter than OEM steel center muffler found on 7.1 GT3/RS

Here is a pic of a 2010 RS of a rennlist member. The center muffler looks identical to the ones of the GT3 R you posted.

Thanks! Everything else other than center muffler are steel. Wonder why Porsche went through all this trouble just to add a titanium center muffler since weight saving is not great? I am certain is not for sound either.

I took another close look at the 2010 RS center muffler and you are right! The welding on each end look just like the one on GT3R ... pretty bad. No wonder Akrapovic denies having anything to do with these mufflers lol
