it will absolutely be 95 cars...
as far as nyc123, IF mmc was lucky enough to get an allocation for one, not only would the car be sold before even the slightest whisper of this car came into a salesmans ear.... but it would be sold for such a high amount that your illusion of what a premium is would cause your keyboard to melt down thus forbidding you to reply with more stupid comments..

i feel really bad for those who pay over msrp because 4 years later the car will be worth 1/2 of list.

2008 GT2 goes on sale in January, at $191,700. Of the 1300 being made, perhaps only 300 will be coming to the U.S. Better get your name on the list early.

i've been told by someone with direct links to Porsche in Germany that the GT2RS will use the Metzger block and will have 620HP.
is this bible truth? I DON'T KNOW
i have no reason to believe that my source is making it up. but i also have no proof that what he was told by the Germans is indeed fact, or early speculation.
personally, i believe it is somewhat unlikely, given Porsche's recent history of not making huge steps up in performance.
993 Turbo to 993 GT2 (with the powerkit) was 408HP to 450HP, or 10%
996 Turbo to 996 GT2 mk2 was 420HP to 480HP, or 14%
997 Turbo to GT2RS with 620HP is a 29% increase over the mk1 Turbo, 24% over the mk2, and 17% over the mk1 GT2.
so not really consistent with past moves of theirs.
having said that, Porsche ARE under new management, and this strategy of tiny incremental improvements may have changed. we all know that Ferrari and Lambo make pretty big HP jumps from one gen to the next, and Porsche have been left behind. big HP makes for good marketing.
one other point. Porsche may be finally retiring the Metzger engine, so i'm thinking... what better way to give the trusty war horse a nice send-off, then really pulling out the stops.
ok, so maybe i'm smoking some strong weed... and if i were a betting man, i wouldn't put too much money on a 620HP 911 from Porsche, even with my reliable source.
but damn, if they do this... that car will rock!!!

"more power than a Carrera GT"
"a part of motor racing history"
"absolute exclusivity"
so many ways to sell this car at a massive premium. who would have thought they'd sell all units of a tarted up Carrera S priced more than an RS right? "a part of motor racing history"
"absolute exclusivity"

I've not asked my 2 sources anything beyond the fact of it coming. And it's coming. When you have a source at Porsche as a friend in a position that answers to the chair, you don't abuse the relationship by asking detailed facts. It is disrespectful.
