Why would anyone buy a GT3 over a GT3RS (other than money)

Timing for me.
Back in Feburary I had an April RS allocation. And then I found a new GT3 with the exact colors & options that I like.
I wanted driving more than waiting... So after a few phone calls and a day later, my dealer had the GT3 transported to my driveway.

Money in my case. I couldn't justify the extra $30k+ at the time for an RS when the 997.1 GT3 I bought was 98% identical. Besides the clutch/flywheel, lack of sunroof, and widebody, there was no difference to me. If the cars where priced identically, I only see positives choosing the GT3 RS over GT3. With the 997.2, there seems to be even bigger differences which makes the case of spending the extra $$ more justfied. If I had to buy a new one today, I wouldn't even consider the GT3 and go straight to the RS.
That being said I've modded my 997.1 GT3 enough to my taste that I won't be buying a 997.2 and plan to install the SW 3.9 conversion in my oldie but goodie vs "upgrading" to the latest and greatest.

Sadly, neither currently. (Atlas with black sport buckets and PCCBs hopefully sooner than later)
Very interesting to see "timing" coming out quite a bit. When I bought my last BMW M3 I couldn't sleep for a week, so if a GT3 was available in my color/option choice, I think I would probably take it.
I figured that most people would say the RS is the choice because of the wider track front and rear, as well as dynamic mounts being standard (can you even spec these on a standard 3?)
I made this thread to see why people chose what they chose, as mostly it seems to me that most drivers could not tell the difference between the two performance wise on the street or track. I could be wrong, and I know that track ****** with tons of time could probably wring out the difference, but it seems that the standard car should be sufficient.

RS is/was out of my budget.
I personally don't see why an RS would be less of a "streetable" car than the normal GT3, except for the single mass flywheel maybe.
In a way, it is all about marketing and making people desire some car more than another. They could have called the RS the normal GT3, and bring out an "RS" version of that with a cup spoiler, 10hp more, full titanium exhaust and some other goodies and people would react the same as to the difference between the regular GT3 and the RS now imho.
For your average Joe doing some trackdays a year I doubt he will actually lap faster with the RS.
Dynamic engine mounts and noselift both are available on the normal GT3 too

the RS is the better bargain, provided you get them at msrp
base GT = 112
base RS = 132
delta = 20
lwfw: you do this aftermarkt labor/part 3000
shorter gearing, if you do aftermarket, labor/parts 3000-4000
bucket seat is an option on GT, std on RS = 3000
engine mount = 1500
wider body = let's assign it a 3500 value (wide body used to be a 25,000 option in the 80's)
now you are looking at a delta of just $5000.
i am looking at this from someone who track. from that perspective, you will want all of the above options.

How many people would line up to buy (again, even) if they announce the GT3 RSR, coming in 6-9 months, give or take.
Specs including:
Full Ti (Akrapovic) Exhaust
CF Roof
More aggressive ("cup look") spoiler, in CF of course
Some exclusive upgrade of the PCCB (standard)
Upgraded Suspension (some sort of OEM Moton/JRZ Style system)
Availability of the single-piece/shell/Euro GT3 buckets (hypothetical, bear w/ me)
100% Exclusive Color Palette (all retro combinations); no other way to get them, guaranteed
Throw in a special day at PSDS in Alabama with Derek Bell, Hurley Haywood, et alia
Let's say 500 units worldwide (guaranteed, numbered on your dash) at $180 K

Timing was a huge part of it because I was selling another car privately, was lucky enough to find this one. The tax credit was too much $$$ to walk away from. I still have an RS too look forward to for next time!
