good thing they included a trickle charger cause the glovebox light is on (it won't close) and porsche service isn't open until monday. kinda hard to drive like that (with registration, insurance, manuals, etc flying around) in the meantime.

Ben,

Is your broken glove box related to your recent tech inspection?

My thoughts exactly. But I did have this problem on my 968, and the latch on the box has about 2mm worth of adjustment that let the box latch just right.

there are two plastic "pins" on each side of the box cover which no longer come out.

They are still in there, just stuck. This also happened on the 968 (I have two glove box doors for multiple issues with this :-( ). On mine, it was a friend that turned the **** too hard. I was able to loosen the bolts holding it to the door, and it released some of the pressure and the pins popped back.

thanks. yes the pins are still in there but they won't release. without taking the entire back cover off, i can't get to the bolts holding the handle to the door. also, i don't want to start taking it apart and giving porsche an excuse to deny the warranty claim.

Seeing your late "test-drive" post, I would LOVE to see that after, say, a fried clutch of transmission.
"Ah, sorry sir, warranty doesn't apply on drivetrain since you repaired the glovebox yourself. Perhaps one of our techs should test-drive your car to assess the problem."

I would have said duct-tape too, but it may leave ugly glue residue ...
