Radar/Laser Detection at it's best!

So after reading a post in the 997TT forum this morning about radar/laser detectors I thought I'd put up a quick post about our weapon of choice here at Champion: The Passport 9500ci. So then I walked back into the shop and what do you know...we had an install going on right now! Perfect time to snap some pics!
The 9500ci is easily one of the most thorough systems available on the market today! It has all band radar detection and Escort's signature laser "shifting" technology, and it's completely undetectable by new police detector detectors! It's GPS functions are really ahead of the curve. I'm even considering ditching my trusty Valentine One for one of these bad boys!
Some other features include:
-AutoLearn
-GPS based safety camera locations pre-loaded
-Speed alert
-Voice alerts
-Mark location features.
....the list goes on and on.
Today's install was on a 2010 GT3. Here's some pics...enjoy!

which one do you guys think would be better to get for city use rather then highway driving?
I'm never on the highway.. so V1 or Passport?

I drove through a decently big city with my V1 (Durham, NC)...I had almost ripped my eyes out by the time I left. Only brief moments of the 15 or so minute drive were not cluttered by constant beeping.
I drive most of my time in long open highway...So I bought a V1. I love the arrows, and they are actually much less gimmicky than they look.
The V1 has clearly saved me in every cop encounter, except one. (VERY early, I was the only car on the road, met a very skilled instant on operator, nailed me...Luckily not speeding). But no detector can save you from this situation.
If I had to go through heavily commercialized area everyday, I would go with something with the GPS lockout, like the Passport. I haven't used it though, so I can't tell you how well it works.
Laser is also not used in my area, so I have no reason to invest in a laser jammer.
Note: Even with my rural drive I pass a couple falses, which still annoy me.

Guys, lets not kid ourselves...saying the 9500ci is better at laser/radar than a Laser Interceptor/V1 or Blinder/V1 is like saying a C2S is better on the track vs a GT3RS....
The JTG tests all favor LI and Blinder...in the shifter circles, 9500 is considered second class citizen esp given its price.
And yes I have the 9500 system myself but I own it because its convenient, as it has radar and laser shifter built into 1 unit but I fully realize it isnt as good as LI or Blinder for its shifting capabilities.

For city driving, you don't need maximum detection range. You do want to not have constant false alarms from non-radar sources. This is where the 9500ci is brilliant. If you drive the same routes repeatedly, the 9500ci learns where the false alarms are and tags the location with the help of GPS. After a few trips, the false alarms disappear. You can manually override any of the lockouts if you choose, but you probably won't be doing that. The 9500ci then becomes astonishingly quiet except for the occasional new source or a real alert. It works extremely well.

I've been debating between the two for sometime. And I did hear the V1 gives tons of false alarms... Which is annoying.
I need to browse a few sites and find out what these terms mean like instant on, etc.. I'm clueless.
When you get the manual, does it specifically tell you what each feature on the radar does?

Instant on basically means, the cop is sitting in his car, and the radar only turns on when he or a computer pulls the trigger on the radar gun, which is aimed at you! This is what nothing can save you from, because there is no radar for the detector to detect until it is too late! However, if the cop hits a car in front of you within range you will get a brief signal, and this can save you!
Constant on is radar that just remains on all the the time (when a car crosses it the radar gives a readout of the speed), like holding down the trigger on the radar gun. This is when a detector shines because it can detect it long before.

1. When cops shoot laser, they shoot it front low and center, aiming for the front license plate or a headlight.
2. Some states radar detectors are illegal so a stealth install like this is necessary.
3. The difference of about 3 feet in mounting height isn't going to make a HUGE difference. IMO it would make a difference so small you could barely measure it. If it was even different at all.
