"cup" vs "street" adjustable 2pc lower arms

Hi, 996turbo owner here. looking to upgrade lower arms. As per title, trying to understand the differences.

Please help confirm whether the following is correct:

GT3 standard street lower arms:
  • 2pc design, rubber thrust bushing/rubber end arm bushing
  • fits both front and rear
GT3 cup lower arms (front):
  • 2pc design, solid thrust bushing/monoball end arm bushing
  • front and rear not interchangeable
  • longer overall length than standard steet lower arm
  • increased strength
Thank you.

where r you located?
the arms are of the same length and is interchangeable b/n street and cup cars.
if your car is <3200 lbs and driven mostly on street, there is no way you can feel the difference.

if you do decide to change control arms to monoballs, you also need to change rear uppper dog bones, lower tie rods and might as well get adj thrust arms. otherwise, it's only 1/2 done.

hi thanks for the reply. im located in hong kong. Yes have all the other arms already dogs, toe, bumpsteer, monoball perches.

from the TRG website, Front cup lower arm description is rubber bushings, but the photo is of the solid/monoball type. The rear have the solid/monoballs and cost a bit more.

Can anyone confirm whether the cup front arms come with the solid adj thrust bushings verus rubber adj ones on the st. version?

thank you

if you are talking about 996 cups, all 6 cups had rubber bushing at the split control arm, as well as thrust arm bushings.996R, RS, RSR had monoballs.

however, many cup cars "upgraded" to monoballs, but oem the cups were just like street car for the two bushings on the control arms.

I've read a couple posts stay that the GT3 LCAs need to be 'flipped' Left vs. Right in order to line up the thrust bearing offsets properly on the 996TT.

Does anyone know if this is for sure true?

Many thanks,
Henry

I have the Cup arms directly from Porsche (not sure if 996 or 997, but they were bought in 2009). The fronts have rubber bushing and the rears have solid bushings as the TRG site mentions.

Not sure about GT3 arms, but this does not apply to the cup arms.
