any suggestions for reasonable upgrade to sound system in 996tt

I assume some of you have upgraded the crappy speakers/amp in your 996tts. I have a the non-bose system (no sub). Does anyone have any reasonably priced suggestions for speakers/amps that will fit the rediculously small area allotted in the car to get at least half-way decent sound. I'd rather not spend $10K on the sound system (I already have a decent head unit), when the money could be better spent on more performance oriented mods.

Install Mb quart component speakers, and a Jl w7 8inch sub. Run the Jl sub off a Jl 500/1 amp and then use a 4 chanel for the speakers. Check out www.woofersetc.com for the best prices.

I second this, the exhaust note is very beautiful, and it’s always changing, all you have to do is use your feet to do it, better then taking your attention away from driving to change the station or track.

If you really want to install a system, go with mpwrmodena’s idea, good set up. I would maybe go with PPI amps, but the Mb quart and JL setup is very nice.

Yeah I put the Jl and Mb quart running off an apline head unit in a c2 turbo. It sounded amazing in that car, should be the same in the 996. If you want the best and exact setup I used Please Pm me and I will give you a list along with prices.
